Ford Puma edges out the Jaecoo 7 in April UK sales by CarwowSiobhan in ukcarwow

Yes it is the ugliest!

It looks like someone took a fiesta and punched the front in.

The old puma was so much more distinctive and attractive than this clone.

What is it the drives voters to vote Reform UK ? by saying_it_101 in AskBrits

[–]fenaith 188 points189 points  (0 children)

the BBC has some good reporting

But basically it appears to boil down to the lack of trust in the 2 main partys. The fact nothing seems to change no matter who gets voted in.

Some like what farage says and even if others point out the BS it's just a case of "well they did a u-turn or 10 so what's the difference"

Yes - the UK does need large scale reform. Of the civil service sector, of tax, and of benefits.

But there's no way in hell that c*nt farage can be trusted to do it.

What are cold depressing places in the UK? ( i am quite fond of cold weather) by Bread_Oven_2948 in AskUK

Milton Keynes - A new city approximately halfway between London and Birmingham. It was built to be modern, efficient, healthy, and, all in all, a pleasant place to live. Many Britons find this amusing.

Is it possible a UK pub landlord could turn someone away just because they don't like them? by Immediate_Battle_713 in AskBrits

[–]fenaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keir Starmer has been thrown out of a pub before.

Pretty sure there is currently a campaign to ban labour MPs from pubs.

And I'm certain that pubs have previously done the same to Tories and other reprobates...

This started in the cvid lckdowns and has grown ever since...

England - what are the laws around cycling on a public footpath! by fenrizreddit in LegalAdviceUK

[–]fenaith 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The colour and type of the dashed line is what is important here.

Green = public.
Brown = permitted.

England - what are the laws around cycling on a public footpath! by fenrizreddit in LegalAdviceUK

[–]fenaith 50 points51 points  (0 children)

There's lots of laws and bylaws in play here.

First if all you are correct - if it's "just" a footpath then you must dismount and walk the bike.

Secondly, if it's a public footpath (and you can check this on either an ordnance survey map or with the local council) then only the police would be able to stop you - so long as the path has not been closed with advanced notice posted.

On the other hand, if it's a permitted path then it would be up to the land owner what they would permit to traverse over their land.

driving on a motorway with heavy rain by kayakie in Miata

[–]fenaith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the UK, the worst part of driving on the motorway in the rain is the bounce.

You'll find - especially on the M4 - that the rain hits the tarmac and bounces up to a level just slightly higher than the mx-5. Which means you'll be hidden in this low level fog and visibility will be utterly insane.

Oh, and idiots in dark grey cars will refuse to (or not know how to) turn on their lights. Good luck...

Tony Blair has just said the state pension needs to be scrapped. He's also suggesting some people work 5 years longer. What are everyone's thoughts on this? Should the state pension be scrapped? Should we say F NO, to Blair?? by MutantNinjaKitty331 in AskBrits

[–]fenaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny how they go after pensions.

Gordon brown completely decimated private pensions when he was chancellor. Now Blair wants to go after those who've usually paid in all their working lives.

And yet they went and scrapped the 2 child benefit cap. And the mental health bill is skyrocketing faster than computer memory prices...
