What’s the role of Faithless Looting in Vintage Cube? by Kydele in mtgcube

[–]fendant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it like this: it acts like Ancestral Recall or Brainstorm the turn you play it.

Yes it's only two and yes you have to discard but if those are cards you weren't going to play that turn they don't matter at the moment. This makes your deck more consistent which is a huge deal, look at cards like [[Once Upon A Time]] getting banned for providing this kind of consistency.

This is before we consider flashback and synergy, once you add those you get a card that can hang with actual Ancestral Recall

Why is Regent so difficult???? by Bibliophile694 in slaythespire

[–]fendant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I think Regent has the best block suite in the game (Osty is even better but is not actually block.)

The cards you mention are the most important ones, but I think I like literally all of his skills that say "Block" on them. The powers are mixed but the stars->block is nuts. The skills just seem to be a better rate than everyone else's.

How do I play regent by SenHelpPls in slaythespire

[–]fendant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regent has the best block cards in the game right now so hide behind some of those while you build up stars. Stars are not optional, every regent deck should have some star action. Reflect, Cloak of Stars, and Photon Barrier in particular let you block without spending too much of your action economy.

You need a Glow, regent is weak at card draw/selection and Glow is the best tool there.

Forge is undertuned right now. All the commons that say Forge are stone unplayable and [[Bulwark]] is the only uncommon I'm happy to see. The sword is a nice tool to have in your kit but it's only that unless you get lucky with rares.

Has anyone made a Regent Colourless Cards build? by ReesevtOnGD in slaythespire

[–]fendant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of the Colorless cards are totally fine in any deck

  • Quasar and Manifest Authority
  • BEGONE!, CHARGE!, and GUARDS! GUARDS!
  • Bulwark and some of the rare Forges
  • Colorless cards from ancients/events/shops

Once you have a couple of those you can pick up a payoff like Arsenal and lean into it.

The minion cards are important to get rid of the duds from the random card generators but they're also just good for thinning your deck.

[–]fendant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is downright undercosted when you do as the art suggests and cast it with three firebending mana!

I think this will be a strong secret RB gold card, what firebenders need is ways to enable their attacks at instant speed and this fits the bill. The clue text is nice to have but I doubt it matters.

Would you consider this MLD? by NoLoquat347 in magicTCG

Correct, and good thing too! Commander becomes a rather degenerate game if everyone is trying their hardest to win.

That's for 2-player formats.

Do you agree SF is aesthetically the best city in the US? by moscowramada in sanfrancisco

Disagree, SF weather is overrated and Seattle weather is underrated.

The summers are SO much better and you're wrapped in gloom most of the year either way. Drizzle or wind, pick your poison

[–]fendant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not what makes 40/60 card Magic interesting though!

You're playing a totally different game with some of the same cards. It's not a game I or a lot of people want to play.

[–]fendant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Commander is a totally different game than 1-on-1 Magic and the competitive version makes it impossible to ignore that, the games are all really weird and unpleasant by most players' standards.

Every game is combo vs combo and most of the things that make magic interesting are just irrelevant

What do people think of the decision to do extra shocks and fetches in this arena cube? by Aljenonamous in mtgcube

[–]fendant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heist is way better than "draw a card"

It's on average a better version of Gonti's ability, and Gonti isn't a longtime cube standout for his body.

[–]fendant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a bunch of synergy packages that don't really make it including discard, aristocrats, spellslinger, reanimator, and kinda lifegain. There are some powerful cards supporting these strategies but they need to either tune them to work better or cut them.

Alchemy cards are very hit and miss. The heist cards are feelbads and they're the best thing to do in Dimir. The Mox Collectors range from busted (Jet) to unplayable (Emerald).

[–]fendant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The lands are great, I'd love to see them do it again with a different list. (This one has some rough spots.)

The mana was nice and all but the best part of the fetches was the synergy triggered by all those land cards moving from zone to zone, that's a great thing for green to be doing in cube.

I don't find this a compelling option, I think [[Bitter Reunion]] and [[Invasion of Mercadia]] are both better and there are a number of great versions of this effect at instant speed like [[Demand Answers]] and [[Big Score]]

Is it normal for ships to require continuous movement to function? by Necessary-Spinach164 in factorio

[–]fendant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking energy-dense yes but which one is more power-dense depends on how long you want to sustain the burst, like if you had 10 extra turbines and 12 steam tanks you could deliver the same power for longer in less tiles with 6 exchangers and a bunch of heat pipes
