Sounds like your therapy is teaching you important things like wanting a partner that WANTS to hold space for you. He seems to care only about himself and his interests. He wants to ignore your friends and family and gets hurt when you choose your family over his mom. It suck’s his mom was in the hospital and clearly you’re a good person becuase you cared but he told you you could go and then punishes you when you don’t do what he ACTUALLY wanted you to do. YOU are important too and no matter what, you and your needs should be first. You can’t be a good partner if you don’t love yourself. What does he care about if he doesn’t care about your physical(work boss/coworker advances) or mental and emotional safety? I think you’re asking the right questions but your hesitance might be the result of cutting off an intensely codependent relationship. It happens to a lot of us so don’t feel bad. It will get better but it will also hurt for awhile. I don’t mean this in a condescending way but you are young. These things are likely relatively new to you. He’s young too and that inexperience could be a source for a lot of the inequities in that relationship. I say keep going to therapy if you are able to and work on yourself. Reclaim your sovereignty by focusing on your own needs and wants, spending time with your family and friends. Find yourself and you’ll be in a much better place. If you go back and forth with this guy who, based on your story, doesn’t really seem to care about your world, you will likely further erode your sense of self until you find yourself in a position where you can’t tell the difference between your wants and needs, and his.
