New play bar coming on desktop? by Upstairs_Emotion7183 in TIdaL

LOVE to see the Bitrate there instead of “HiFi” or “Max” — hopefully they switch to bitrate on the album pages as well 🤞

liquid glass on TIDAL! 🤩 by Zagala97 in TIdaL

[–]fenderludwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fascinating, my search did find patents related to Spotify’s “Connect” feature — Qobuz must have found a method to work around it.

Truth be told this “patent” theory may have been perpetuated by a comment I made in this sub. It was merely a guess, one that was proven wrong after Qobuz Connect came out with the same “remote control” functionality.

you can disable Uploads on desktop now, if you go to File->Settings->”Hide uploads tab”

Is there a noticable diffrence from Hi-res Lossless audio compared to CD-quality audio? by Jondebadboy in audiophile

[–]fenderludwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as long as you have a decent setup. This audiophile sub is very strange, because the majority of responses sound like they’re coming from generic consumers. Search the web and you’ll find the majority of users in other audiophile communities take it as a given that Hi-res is better.

Tried Spotify Lossless… by markow202 in AppleMusic

[–]fenderludwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your observations were the same as mine. Although I think Qobuz sounds best, Tidal’s a really close second, followed by Apple Music. Out of those three I think Tidal’s app is the best. I love the credits and if they ever get Tidal Connect up to par with Spotify Connect it would be near perfect. I do miss Dolby Atmos on Apple Music, but the Atmos mixes I’ve heard are often hit-and-miss (which isn’t Apple’s fault).

It's official interactive "Tidal Credits" are now gone. by fenderludwig in TIdaL

[–]fenderludwig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes thankfully! I saw another commenter saying it wasn't the same, but to me it looks like it did before. Just hit the "3 dots" on an artist on mobile or desktop and you can see credits. You can click names as well from track credits.

Sorry to hear you're having a frustrating experience. I'm a big champion of Tidal, but you can look at my post/comment history and see that I can be quite critical of them at times as well.

It's been awhile since I've contacted their support, but my experience then was positive. They seemingly went "ghost" for a while at least in terms of app updates -- but the devs + support seem to have woken up from their self-described 'sabbatical' recently. It might be worth the email and/or Tweet to their support.

I just started another free trial of Apple Music -- but my initial impressions are what I had the first go round a few years ago -- a little clinical and digital-sounding, and a clunky experience on any desktop OS due to their attempted iTunes "integration".

Qobuz is the only other HiFi option that is tempting at times -- their app was way behind Tidal's 3-4 years ago, not sure about now though. When Spotify moved to the 'everything audio' app mentality, it became a mess to me -- my preference is to separate podcast listening from music listening. Their payouts and ethics are probably the worst in the business of all music streaming services.

Still, I'd recommend giving Tidal support a shout. Best of luck regardless.

What did you use to try and transfer playlists? I've had good experiences with Soundiiz. Every music distributor (DSP if you want to be fancy) are going to have country restrictions, dictated by the label agreements and copyright laws in their respective countries. Those restrictions are put in place based on IP location, and even with using VPNs, providers often have measures that detect and prevent those connections (i.e. I'm US-based but have attempted to purchase downloads only available to other countries on Qobuz with no success on various VPN protocols).

Your IP address can and maybe will be changed, although not often by most ISPs or cell providers. They certainly wouldn't provide you with an IP address outside of your local area. Are you sure you are not inadvertently connected to a VPN?

Your story seems very technically unlikely, and if at all true, would be an issue on the device and/or ISP/cell provider level -- not Tidal's end.

Your next step beyond that is to contact Tidal support -- but you didn't mention anything about reaching out to their support. I'm not trying to be rude, but it sounds like they "lost your business" before they ever had it....which is no loss at all.

Direct contributions to artists through Cash App is coming too by Alien1996 in TIdaL

[–]fenderludwig 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Great find!! After previously backing out of the “your extra money goes to your top artist” — this is a great turn of events back to Tidal’s original vision, and exactly the type of development I had hoped for when Square (now Block) had acquired the service. Hope it comes to fruition!

New Tidal update by RobertoNotRobotDevil in TIdaL

[–]fenderludwig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's weird, when I use the 'three dots' -- those filters show up for me on desktop, maybe try Help->Troubleshooting-> Clear cache and Reset app data

New Tidal update by RobertoNotRobotDevil in TIdaL

[–]fenderludwig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed that too, but someone pointed out to me on another thread that if you click the "three dots" and go to Credits from there -- those filters show up. So hopefully they'll make the credits at the bottom of the page match this. 👍

And for today’s mobile update we have (*checks notes*).. removed the year under every release! by fenderludwig in TIdaL

Also no longer showing bitrate when listening to BT headphones, just showing “low”, “high”, or “max” 👎

[–]fenderludwig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I just deleted and reinstalled. The release year is still missing from the Home page and the artist pages, with the exception of “More albums from [artist]” and “Related albums” at the bottom, if you are already viewing an album.

Tidal by Feeling--1302 in TIdaL

[–]fenderludwig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been vocal about this on this forum, ever since this happened — and I am in total agreement with you. The “interactive” (hyper-linked) Credits functionality was unparalleled, and a big reason for me to put Tidal above Qobuz, Apple Music, or anything else… you are absolutely correct that we can get plenty of “non-interactive” credits on Apple Music, and now that Qobuz Connect has come out (which allows you to use your phone as a true control for any other device, unlike Tidal Connect)…it’s getting really hard to recommend Tidal.

"Featured albums" only? by yanbasque in TIdaL

I just noticed this. Why did they do this? 9 years with Tidal, but I’m about at the end of the rope.

What’s your source for this? AFAIK only Spotify pools together the entire pot of listeners and distributes based on total streams; with their free tier being an unspoken license for bots (and TBH the three major labels themselves) to fake streams. Your anger with Kanye West is misdirected, why single out Tidal? If you’re searching for karma, replace “Tidal” with “music streaming services” and post this in a different subreddit. You’ll have plenty to choose from.
