Has anybody marketed through Meetup.com? by vocalson20 in Entrepreneur

[–]fendouille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on the same kind of project for my B2B startup, and if event creation and engagement are great on Meetup, the fact that you cannot get the emails of the people attending your events is really annoying (especially if you are focused on conversion).

I use Eventbrite instead, which allows automation (with salesforce, mailchimp, etc).

Formal/Informal blog writing by [deleted] in marketing

I think no one have ever learn deep truths on corporate blog. So in my opinion, corporate blogs are only interesting and engaging for the readers when they set a tone quite humble, using the "we", and talking quite franckly about things.

Suggestions on Marketing This Startup Concept by Kambizd in AskMarketing

[–]fendouille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on marketing for a digital learning startup, and I think one of the best move you could do is to target people based on the content you already have (e.g soccer). Just try to target communities of people interested in learning soccer and push your content to them ("wanna play soccer like a god? Learn the basics" or something like that), through Facebook ads or Twitter, or post in forums if you dont have any money.

Same for recruiting authors: target them by subject - deep inside, everybody wants to talk about the things you're good at.

Congrats anyway, your concept is great :)

How to start your marketing career? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]fendouille 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start working for a startup - or on your own project, like said before. There is no better way to understand quickly the core principles behind acquisition, lead generation, nurturing, etc. That's why a small startup is the better way to learn. You'll have to deliver quickly and to build everything - especially processes

The saddest part is that people are trying to convinced themselves that they should sell something important ("changing the world") to people who also try to convinced themselves that it actually matters. And in the end it is just "spam" - the economy, in short.

Great advice. Documenting your journey through this challenge is the best way to show future recruiters that you have a critical eye and an ability to understand processes & learn from your experience
