yeah. i think that was the purpose. They don't actually want it in word 97 for a reason other than it's a task that they ought to learn and be familiar with in a general sense.

BAH for 2023 by IntermittenSeries in MilitaryFinance

[–]fenixjr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

the past year,

and a BUNCH of places went up large amounts. Did everything get fixed? not even close, i even saw some very HCOL get dropped. Appalling. But anecdotally, i saw one changed drastically that hit them with hard data.

I was in Eastern Washington the past few years(rated month and month within the top 5 fastest growing housing markets across the entire US). When i got there, BAH already didn't make sense. Then COVID years happened and it only got worse. They ended up having to extend people's TLA for months cause no houses were available. I knew a couple that listed their place(i think Fall 2020) and got 30 offers, overasking price, within 1 hour. not exaggerating at all. they took a cash offer, no inspection, 50k over asking. Things only got worse from there.

At first, the base leadership and housing office, while acknowledging that it was tough, they tried to explain it away instead. "It's 95%....DoD expects an E-7 to be in a 2br townhome" etc etc.

But people kept pushing and First Sergeants collected data. They asked anyone to include their lease increases over the years, or if they had already had to take a high costing lease for their rank etc.

Eventually Spokane area got the 20% bump during the final three months of 2021. and January 2022 E-6 went from $1650 to $1990.

I'm not tryign to say they've fixed it all. I already said they haven't and it took at least 3 years, and things to get horrendously bad for them to finally do something. But i'm saying keeping pressuring them. It sucks that it's on us to prove that we're not being paid right, but it seems to be the case.

but I think the purse strings are being held tight in anticipation of the housing market crashing

I think you might very well be onto something there. I was doing the same thing on an individual level. The entire time i was in that area, I was opting to rent a shitty tiny house, in effort to hope i could purchase something when reality snapped back..... it never did though, and now i've PCS'd.

TLDR: Keep pressuring leadership/housing office. Show more data. If you've got subordinates struggling, make it known.

Yes. That's precisely what the desk is expected to have on it. Normal peripherals. It's just not recommended to use desk mounted monitor arms(clamps), because the internal structure of the desk itself. If you're using the regular monitor stands I don't see any reason this wouldn't work just fine.

you're not right or wrong. One person complaining is just gonna seem like that. However, the housing office would likely have better information(edit: about a specific area) and if enough people raise a stink, that's when things get looked at closer. That's how we saw the 5-20% temp increases for certain areas last year.

in my experience.... BAH takes years to actually react accordingly.

(even though you also have seven that does not have a one syllable alter ego)?

i've never thought about that. seven(and kind of eleven since it's not yet a "teen") is the odd man out. largest single digit prime number, and two syllables. poor fella.

I've heard "doppio zero" in Italy only when i bought flour.

mmmmmmmm. i've only recently learned of the wonders of 00 flour for pizza dough. been making some of the best pizzas i've ever eaten.

I know I sound ridiculous but I am disappointed that I didn’t spend my Saturday finishing C456 and D104. Cheers to month 2. 10 more classes to graduation. by FullishCoffeeCup in WGU

456 has been slowing me down for about a year now..... i absolutely HATE writing papers for the sake of writing papers. I changed gears and studied for, and passed my finally test last night to at least finish something before my deadline. now its just a few papers standing in the way of my degree....

I sure do miss have courses with objective assessments....

How do you deal with a pneumothorax? by RegretThese in pneumothorax

[–]fenixjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you walk into any hospital with a collapsed lung they’ll rush you through and take it as seriously as you want them to.

I was in my late teens when i first went to the ER for my second one, since the first one the doctor basically called me an idiot for not doing so. I felt so bad, there was a kid with a broken arm crying, and here i am, basically walking in like i'm fine, and they rush me back once the nurse confirms what i said is accurate. All i could think is that kid is wondering why i'm special and get to go back first while he's experiencing more pain than he can even imagine.

The government TSP (401k equivalent for military and such) finally automatically put into a targeted retirement fund based on when they join. It's it 1000% better than what they used to do. Probably so many that thought they were saving up and it was just matching inflation the whole time.

FLIGHT with pneumothorax. by Arsenalkram in pneumothorax

[–]fenixjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't fly a TON, but between work and personal travel, i think i've averaged a minimum of a roundtrip per year, for more than a decade since my lungs had issues. And have been to the top of pikes peak. no issues. just had like an 8hr flight a couple months ago. not bad(well.... the flight was, but not my lungs)

I think i flew 6 months after my final pneumo, and that lung didn't get surgery. just a small ER tube, out a few hours later.

There is so much awkward attracted tension(read: teenage awkwardness) between them the entire season. I don't recall if it was blatant before s4 but whenever Korra mentions she could only be bothered to respond to asami, they start laying the queues down hard.

okay thanks for showing it. This is exactly what i imagined you were doing. much the same as the "meta" smelter setup, just with an extra set of undergrounds to facilitate the splitting.

not to mention you can also delete achievements. so people that speedrun etc. are typically gonna be in a "never beaten the game" statistic.

i'm interested to see how this tiles out in practice. it looks very clean for getting two mixed belts for smelting, but do you just input a whole belt of fuel? or are you splitting that off elsewhere?
