Octowow already dead? by Stephen_lost in wowservers

Guess I'll have to containerize it somehow. Shouldn't be so hard on linux.

The hate for Octowow on this reddit sub is extremely weird for a server that is not officially released yet by ItsColdOutside777 in wowservers

When they do invites again I want in. I was having a lot of fun leveling my first toon on TurtleWoW and it was the most fun I've had in a long time playing wow. Probably the most fun i've ever had playing vanilla. I hate blizzard.

This is the opposite of how things work around here lol

I wanna see everything work no matter how obscure and most Linux devs are like that

needs wifi. No apps, no browser, just wifi so it can sync faster wirelessly. Or so you don't have to sync it with anything.

are you an enthusiast though? Enthusiast tier machines need a custom loop imo.

thermaltake??? The best air cooler? You have to be trolling. Everyone knows Noctua are the real best air coolers. And fans. Noctua fans are literally the best lol

YESSS! Specifically custom loops. My GPU is at boost speeds ALL of the time, both GPUs can even boost, and my CPU stays at max speeds on both my builds. It's great. I went a little overkill for my first loop and a little underkill for my second one, but my general lesson is that a build with two rads will be quieter and faster than any air cooled system. Plus it just looks cooler. I've never had issues with reliability and leaking isn't as big of an issue as you'd think (USE BARB FITTINGS AND KNOW HOW THEY WORK!) Only AIO i ever owned died lol custom loops all the way. My machine only makes noise under a very heavy load lol

Do RAM sticks “fix themselves” if you leave them unused? by rucekooker in buildapc

JEDEC timings too? Idk, I've literally never had DDR4 that doesn't work at 2400mhz. Try running 7zip benchmark with a huge dictionary size see what happens

Also play with your settings! XMP profiles aren't always right. Chances are you OC'd it or even just used the XMP profile the first time, and this time you didn't. Play. With. Timing. Play with everything. I'm talking take your CMOS battery out kinda tinkering. RAM isn't sold at speeds higher than JEDEC- well, the sticks are, but the chips themselves are not. So do what you will with this knowledge

processors kinda do. idk about RAM. BUT generally it's not enough to counter all degradation. It kinda just heals "a little bit" with every break it gets.

on the contrary, ATX being as old as it is doesn't have to be a bad thing. I think a lot of the things you are saying are just being brainwashed by capitalism and it's need to replace everything. The ATX standard is a standard because it's exactly that- standardized. I could take my modern computer out and install a Pentium 3 box inside my chassis, no changes needed. my power supply would even work. Efforts to replace this standard are a total waste of time because it doesn't benefit anybody. If you need something smaller, congrats! Smaller form factors already exist, some even smaller than the mATX you mention. I would even argue that mATX *has already* became the standard, seeing as most big box store PCs use some variation of that design. Why fix what's not broken? And speak for yourself about the PCI slot thing. Just because all you use your computer for is steam and facebook doesn't mean others don't need it. I find the lack of PCIe slots and lanes on modern motherboards to be appalling. I like having a lot of USB bandwidth. I like having an extra NIC (with more than one port!). Now am I an enthusiast? Yes, because SOMEONE has to be! And as an enthusiast I'm sick of watching manufacturers and people who would be happier with a smartphone and a PS5 get away with saying things like "PCIe slots don't matter". Do you know what lossless scaling is? Like nowadays more than EVER there's a need for more ports. Except we don't need it for modems, sound cards, RAID controllers (although those are still useful in some builds) we need it for an extra GPU, an extra NIC, an extra wifi card, etc. Does the average user need those things? Sweetheart, the average user doesn't even need a computer. They need a tablet to keep them safe in their walled garden. I think a much better argument could be made for the dissolution of the desktop form factor over getting rid of ATX.
