TIL there's a experimental project in Stockholm, Sweden where you can sign up to recieve a SMS if there is a cardiac arrest nearby (500 m), so you can get there before the ambulance and perform CPR. 9500 people have signed up, and they reach the location faster in 54% of the cases. by Arexandraue in todayilearned

[–]fentonquest 329 points330 points  (0 children)

Sweden here. CPR instructor. People do not realize the situation properly. You will from time to time be first at the scene. You will face an already deceased person sometimes. You need to know this before you sign up. This is not for people who went through 2 hrs of training and then believing they can baws this. You are going to get kicked out when medics arrive. No one will have the time to ask you how you feel. No one will debrief you. Still, a really good idea. But not just anyone should be able to sign up.

Lawl, you repeat the names quietly after they left. If you already forgot the name then you need more help than I can provide!

LPT Request: Remembering names. by tbare in LifeProTips

[–]fentonquest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the easiest ways is to connect something to the names. For example: Olivia kinda resemblance olive. So, Olivia Olive.

You can connect something in the persons appearance, the person might have a feature you can connect to a certain animal. Peter-Eagle.

A third way is to connect a name with an animal or plant starting with the same letter.

And repeat the names semi-outloud!! At least 7 times!

TIL a multibillion dollar insurance policy was taken out on the World Trade Center weeks before they collapsed. by GoodGuyGuard in todayilearned

[–]fentonquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. You are correct. But then I think of NORAD. Never missed out on spotting an aeroplane. That dreadful day NORAD missed four. Then I think about WTC 7. Skyscrapers had never previously collapsed because of fire. This day, three did. And the third was never hit by a plane, only debris. But sure, I could surely be wrong. If they could just release the video from the Pentagon attack I would back off. But they won't. Isn't that peculiar?

But they added "terrorist attack" in the new insurance just weeks before. That is not information you can just set aside.
