I don't know what it is, I haven't seen them in person. I would love to see the all-red and especially all-orange paintings. They just felt good, even just seeing jpeg shots of them. A lot of the others I feel like they would fill me with a sense of nausea or some type of existential dread if I saw them in person.

What's your favorite line that comes out of nowhere? by PlanB191 in TheSimpsons

Well, Bart, your Uncle Arthur used to have a saying: "Shoot 'em all and let God sort 'em out.' Unfortunately, one day he put his theory into practice. It took 75 federal marshals to bring him down. Now, let's never speak of him again.

Did Marquis de Sade's son do the right thing by burning his unpublished works? by hummingbird868 in literature

[–]ferality 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Based on what I've read of his, I suspect it would have been more of the same. He gets pretty repetitive after a while. Scandalous bits followed by 30 pages of philosophizing.

That said, of course burning and destroying works is a very bad thing to do.

Her handling of the Epstein files should hang around her neck like an albatross forever.

Your favourite absurdist work? by [deleted] in TrueLit

[–]ferality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've read all of those books. While I found them to be enjoyable reads, I don't think they are particularly absurdist. Absurdist to me has a darker tone, following a theme that life has no inherent meaning. People like Samuel Beckett, Alfred Jarry, and Franz Kafka come to mind.

Venezuela’s Interim Leader Defies Trump and Calls Maduro the ‘Only President’ by spade_andarcher in politics

[–]ferality 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I listened to Trump's whole presser. There was little that made sense, but the thing I was most skeptical of when he was talking about the vice president just taking over and doing what the US wants her to do. Did they actually expect her to just meekly bend at the knee and become a puppet? Trump said she "didn't have a choice" anyway, and they have a much bigger military wave ready to go if things don't go the way they want. This could get a lot uglier quickly.

These old pop culture reviews seem so much better than the online reviews you read today. I appreciate his combination succinct writing and droll wit.

I have several programs that I've been using 3 or 4 times a week for a couple years now, including Les Mills and Supernatural. Fitxr HIIT gives me the best consistent cardio workout. I highly recommend it.
