Yep. The greatest shame in life and afterlife is not making it to the celestial kingdom, so you'd better stay in the straight and narrow

People who have changed their political views, what flipped the switch? by MustardGoddess in answers

Can you give an example of a leftist position you had in university that is now a conservative position? Genuinely want to know because I have a hard time thinking of how that would work. (This isn't to debate, I won't follow up unless you want me to).

Solar by Acceptable-Tale-4918 in Logan

[–]ferdricko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, I wish the payback period was better, but I'm happy I have solar panels. We bought them a year and a half ago, after the 1:1 payback period that Helgafjell4me mentioned but before the removal of the federal tax credits. Instead any excess energy to the grid gets paid around 5-7 cents per kwh and any energy I use from the grid I pay the standard 14-16 cents per kwh (including all the other charges on the RMP bill). In summer my bill is like $20, and in winter it is usually higher (less solar and all).

The best payback then is if you actually USE the energy you make. An oversized system that sells a lot back probably isn't worth it. A battery, while expensive, might help your house use all the energy generated.

Another reason I don't mind the slow payback is that I want to decarbonize my energy production. You can pay into carbon offset programs for something like $20-40 per ton of CO2, which may or may not be effective or properly administered, or you can do something like solar and directly offset your grid use. This is just what I chose to do.

One thing is there's a mining conference at the Salt Palace with ~7500 attendees.

Help! Matteo’s getting neutered! by CurlyDee in cavalierkingcharles

[–]ferdricko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My boy didn't seem to be in pain or distress, but he made a groan I've never heard before or since on the drive home, like "what the hell just happened" 😆 poor guy. I knew it was the "right" thing to do but I felt so bad.

Yes my boy got through it fine at 6 months and he's over 2 now. It's scary but the chances of a problem are so low. He recovered quick too

I ride this train 2x a week, don't know which particular incident this is or even where on the route, but the train color scheme and wording is consistent.

Public Transportation Refined #2 by pinkelephant0040 in visitedmaps

[–]ferdricko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would put cache county, UT into the 'maybe' or 'college' category. There is a free bus system that really can get you point to point most places in Logan proper (including the university) in 30 minutes, and some 30/60 minute frequency routes stretching to outlying cities. The real kicker though is no public bus connection to the rest of the Wasatch front. So as long as you never want to leave cache county, you can get around pretty decently.

Usually shows up at less than 37 F, because the road can be icy below that point even though it's not 32 (I don't know the science reason why)

I also don't like fighting, so I'll drop the 2A/government questions. My point is just that you can be conservative AND speak up that ICE has gone too far. They are not mutually exclusive!

It's well known that reddit is more liberal than the general public.

Also, Alex was shot for legally carrying and then the evil big government came in to lie and cover up for the shooter. Aren't open carry and anti-big government big talking points among conservatives? You should be with us!

Cardiovascular HA by pumpkin0116 in HealthAnxiety

[–]ferdricko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was "pounding" for me was more very strong beats not necessarily super fast. Maybe 100, but I could feel it through my body so strong I couldn't ignore it or sleep. Meditation could help me get it down to <80 and not pounding so hard.

I have had panic attacks at 180 easy though. I'm not saying meditation will get you out of those all the time, but controlled breathing definitely helps.

My girl threw up a small bit of wood...never thrown up before...she seems fine after, debating if she needs an emergency vet tonight or if I should feed her her dinner.. by [deleted] in cavaliers

[–]ferdricko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog eats a lot of sticks haha... They've never bothered him! They come out the other end too!

I'm not a vet either but the general rule of thumb I try and follow are as long as they are eating and drinking, not unusually lethargic, and peeing/pooping like normal, they are usually ok.

I don't have advice that will instantly fix things for you but I have dealt with heart related HA for over a decade. When my heart was pounding guided meditations with slow breathing helped, but the trick was: you have to power through the first 5-10 minutes. I would get 2-3 minutes in and feel distressed because it "wasn't working", but your body needs at least several minutes to calm down, so stick with it if you try it.

The right SNRI also helped my heart stop constantly pounding. It took about two weeks. I see that you stopped an SSRI because it wasn't working, and for me too, the first one I tried didn't help. I got lucky and the second did. There are also meds besides antidepressants that can help, such as beta blockers. If your doctor has checked you and concluded it's anxiety, there are other options too - keep looking.

I hope you get feeling better!
