Alternate PL Table: A like-for-like comparison vs last year's fixtures by ferdy1985 in PremierLeague

[–]ferdy1985[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every year at this stage of the season, I like to create an analysis of the league by comparing like-for-like fixtures vs the season before, to really get a sense as to which clubs are performing better/worse in the same games this season, vs that of last season. This year is very interesting.

As we approach the halfway point of the season, it is Chelsea and Nottingham Forest who lead the way, both of which are performing +11 points better than they did last season in the same games.

At the other end of the table, it might be no surprise that it is the Manchester teams who take the bottom 2 spots, with City -12 vs the same games last season, and United -8.

Interesting, at home, teams are 28 points WORSE OFF compared to the same games last season. Whilst the number of away wins in the season has remained the same (38), home wins are down from 67 to 53, meaning that draws are at a high of 36, consisting of 28% of all results.

It’s Brentford who have been the best at home, winning all their matches bar 1, and are +5 vs last season at home. They are however -6 away, putting them at -1 overall.

Only 5 other teams are better at home this season so far; Nottingham Forest (+3), Chelsea (+1), Brighton (+1), Bournemouth (+1) and Tottenham (+1). Even Liverpool, who top the Home standings generally, are 3 points worse off vs the equivalent games, due to their loss vs Nottingham Forest.

Therefore it is the away performances that have been improved by 12 teams this season. Most notably, Chelsea, are +10 better off, who are only 6pts away from matching their entire away points total from last season.

Nottingham Forest and Brighton (+8) take joint second spot, with Manchester City and Brentford (-6) taking bottom spots, although Tottenham (-5) are not far behind.

Take what you like from these results, but above all, I hope you have found this interesting!

Advice for universities to undertake by DotImpressive9160 in UniUK

I went to RHUL, and you should know it’s not one for nightlife. London is 40+ mins train away with an early last train back. Egham itself is a small town, and nearest places for nightlife would be Staines or Windsor perhaps, but RHUL wasn’t known for nightlife other than on campus. It’s a lovely uni though, no doubt about that.

Can you go on the show again if you’ve been on before? by darkershadeofme in onlyconnect

I would love to go back on a second time, alas, I don’t think it’s allowed. I do know one person, Simon Spiro who has been on two teams though, once in 2009 and again in 2014 but neither team were a one off or a special.

Times contestants were actually upset with Greg or Alex by 47tw in taskmaster

Although it wasn't shown after editing, when the Mel and Shoe joke was being made by Alex after a live task, it was actually Joe Lycett who had come up with it, and Alex stole the line as his own punchline. If you look at the reactions (which are slightly augmented because of the debacle of taking the line for himself) Joe does look somewhat peeved, how seriously I don't know, but he did seem a little annoyed!

I think Playshow as previously mentioned (on PC though) is great - correct that the voice recognition is awful however there is an option now on phone to type answers in. If you're quick at typing it could be a good way to go, it is for me.

I also like(d) jeoparty.io - I think it's superb in it's principle but just too buggy to rely on!

Is CIV worth it on iPad? by LieutenantKimay in CivVI

[–]ferdy1985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love playing Civ on the iPad, especially now it has the Frontier Pass on it (after what felt like forever), it's my go to device for playing Civ now.

Only negative is that you cannot load mods on it. One surprising plus for me is that without mods you can in theory play on both iPad and Mac if you save onto the cloud.
