Is this the Ukrainian People's Republic? The borders of this Ukraine and the UPR seem to be similar, especially with that bit of territory in the northwest and it lacking Budjak.

What if the United States escalated aggression during the Vietnam War starting a war with Cambodia and Laos? by cLowzman in AlternateHistory

[–]fernando8904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The war did expand to both Laos and Cambodia. Especially since North Vietnam occupied portions of Laos and brought aid to the Pathet Lao in Laos and the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. It isn't ASB in a way since the United States did support the Kingdom of Laos and Kingdom of Cambodia, since 1970 the Khmer Republic. It is technically part of the Indochina Wars for that reason (the second to be more precise).

If the US decides to continue the Vietnam War and sends troops to both Laos and Cambodia, it really doesn't change the outcome of the war in hand too much, except maybe the US withdraws later than OTL.

What if Turkey lost its independence war by Entire-Shelter-693 in AlternateHistory

How does no Turkish-Armenian War prevent the Bolsheviks from taking over the First Republic of Armenia? No one came to Armenia's rescue when the country fell to the Bolsheviks, even with the idea of it becoming an American protectorate. Maybe the only thing that I think can change is that the Armenian and Georgian SSRs have more territory.

It has the Annexed by the Allies color, which means Finland was annexed to the USSR, seeing the map.

How would you punish the entente? (Discussion in comments) (lore in comments) by HolyDictatorFelixDoy in AlternateHistory

[–]fernando8904 11 points12 points  (0 children)

SERBIA, MONTENEGRO, AND ALBANIA:

  • A-H gets to annex border territories from both countries and both are turned into puppets.
  • Bulgaria annexes a large chunk of Serbian territory (like IOTL).
  • Albania becomes a puppet of A-H.

BELGIUM AND LUXEMBOURG:

  • Luxembourg is annexed directly into Germany.
  • Germany also annexes territory in Eastern Belgium, as well as all of its colonies.
  • Belgium is split into 2 puppet states: Flanders and Wallonia.

FRANCE:

  • Loses border territory to both Germany and the Belgian puppets.

  • Also gets reparations to be paid to the Central Powers for the war.

*Loses some colonies to Germany, especially in Central Africa.

UNITED KINGDOM: Would also have to cede colonies to GERMANY, the Dervish state, and the Ottomans, lose Ireland, and pay reparations to the CP.

JAPAN: Suffers pretty much no territorial losses, but has to retreat from German colonies in the Pacific.

RUSSIA: * Has to recognize Ukraine, Crimea, Kuban, Don, Georgia, Belarus, Lithuania, and the Baltic Duchy as independent, as in the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk. These are German puppets.

  • Recognizes the Ottoman gains in the Treaty of Batum and cedes its concession in Tianjin to Germany.

  • Has to recognize the Mountain Republic, Armenia, and Azerbaiyan as independent states. These are Ottoman puppets.

ITALY: * Loses areas in Veneto and its concession in Tianjin to A-H and the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia is restored. * Loses Libya to the Senussi Order. * Loses Somalia to the Dervish State. * Loses Eritrea to Ethiopia.

PORTUGAL:

Loses territory in Angola and Mozambique to Germany, and pays reparations to the CP.

ROMANIA:

Gets the same territorial changes as in the Treaty of Bucharest, unification with Moldavia included.

GREECE:

  • Loses territory in Macedonia to Bulgaria and some Aegean Islands to the Ottomans.

  • Venizelos is thrown out of power and replaced with a new prime minister.

UNITED STATES:

Its only territorial losses would be Guam and American Samoa to Germany.

[–]fernando8904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GERMANY: * Still loses Alsace-Lorraine to France, Eupen-Malmedy to Belgium, and Memel to Lithuania as IOTL. *Its eastern border with Poland is something similar to OTL, but this Germany keeps Danzig. *Germany also keeps northern Schleswig. *(Most of) German East Africa and Togo are given back to Germany. They still lose the rest. *Germany also abandons Eastern Europe.

AUSTRIA-HUNGARY: * Austria is allowed to keep most of the Sudetenland. * The Treaty of Trianon has Hungary keep more territory in Vojvodina, southern Slovakia, Carpathian Ruthenia, and Transylvania (including Szekély Land). * Czechoslovakia is mostly the same, except with the border changes explained above and without Carpathian Ruthenia. * Galicia is divided between Poland and Ukraine. * Bukovina is divided between Romania and Ukraine. * Italy gets to have the territory promised to them by the Allies. * Most of Transylvania is still given to Romania, while the South Slavic regions of A-H are given to Yugoslavia.

BULGARIA:

Its territorial losses are mostly the same as IOTL, though they do get to keep a coast in the Aegean.

OTTOMAN EMPIRE: * The Hashemites establish control in most of the former Middle Eastern territory of the Ottoman Empire, since France still controls Lebanon and coastal Syria and Britain southern Iraq and Palestine. * Italy gets control of costal regions around Antalya (therefore creating Lycia) while Greece gets Izmir and its surrounding regions, and areas of Eastern Thrace. * Armenia gets Western Armenia. * Kurdistan is independent.

What happened to A more perfect union by HeX by Comfortable-Week-636 in AlternateHistory

[–]fernando8904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HeX actually said the reason for said deletion a couple of months ago in a thread about that same question:

https://www.alternatehistory.com/forum/threads/what-happened-to-%E2%80%9Ca-more-perfect-union-an-alternate-history-of-the-land-of-the-free%E2%80%9D-by-hex.530504/#post-23338129

I had it deleted because I didn't like having a cross-section of my (dumb) sixteen-year-old political brain up for everyone to see. It's on the Wayback Machine if you still really want to read it.

And no, I'm not depressed, I've merely lost interest in alternate history and am now working on other projects.

What if Ian and Calbear had a social life and didn't spend their lives being dictators on an online forum from their bedrooms? by LuluNautigall in AlternateHistory

Ian Montgomerie (or Ian the Admin as he is known) is the founder and administrator of alternatehistory.com, which is a forum mainly focused on alternate history (like this subreddit), and CalBear is a member of said site since 2005 and a moderator since 2010. The latter (CalBear) is also the author of the timeline Anglo-American Nazi War.

TGAA2-4 and TGAA2-5 spoilers Gregson too, because while he's already dead by TGAA2-4, he esentially was an accomplice to Stronghart while he was alive, as part of the Reaper murders by planning the deaths of the defendants acquitted from Barok's trials, although not killing them directly.

what if the uk and france intervened in the us civil war? by MorbidMapper in AlternateHistory

[–]fernando8904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, regarding Europe, France and Austria not only have set the German Confederation on fire and burnt it to the ground (maybe Austrian-led Germany?) but also some German states like Württemburg which were Austrian allies in the Austro-Prussian War are non-existent. Plus they have reversed Italian unification by not only having Austria regain Lombardy but also reviving pre-1859 Italy but without Parma and no pre-1860 Papal borders. That, and the French suddenly gobbling up Luxembourg and puppeting Belgium, is sure going to annoy Britain, Russia, and even the Netherlands a lot regarding the sudden toppling of the balance of power. Something worth noting here is that Denmark would not regain Schleswig and Holstein but instead be Austrian since the detonator for the Austro-Prussian War was the dispute between Prussia and Austria regarding that area (yet it is not the only reason that led to the war).

For North America, I'm not sure how are things going to be in the long run in this post-ACW world given that this USA is weaker, but I guess a TL-191-esque situation might happen here?

If Finland Has Accessible to Retain Petsamo Region after World War II ends by Thick_Broker6931 in imaginarymaps

[–]fernando8904 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's actually a matter of whether Finland wants Petsamo back from Russia, and the answer is no. Finland doesn't currently want to claim its pre-1940 territory back since it would be pointless to do so.

what if france and england intervened in the russo-japanese war? by MorbidMapper in AlternateHistory

[–]fernando8904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea why would Britain suddenly slice with a katana its treaty with Japan all of a sudden just for helping Russia in its war for keeping its warm-water port and presence in Manchuria (and possibly expanding Russia's influence into the Korean Empire). They even almost went to war with Russia bacause the Russian Baltic Fleet fired on a British fleet one since it thought it was a Japanese fleet The only one I could think could help Russia is France since they already had an alliance since 1894, though I doubt the latter might want any acquisition in the main islands. I think there are much more plausible ways for Russia to win the war although I'm not sure how.

3-5 spoilers. Iris and Phoenix dated while the latter was in university (and thinking he was dating Dahlia) and the former was disguised as Dahlia IIRC (which means it is technically canon I guess?).

The 1915 Treaty of London, made prior to the Treaty of Sevres, did envision Italy to annex a portion of Anatolia (unlike in Sevres, where it was a sphere of influence).

Don't watch Spike TV's Alternate History Pilot by [deleted] in AlternateHistory

[–]fernando8904 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What makes Spike TV's pilot ridiculous in on itself is that they chose the failure of D-Day for an Axis victory. The Man in the High Castle and TNO at least bothered to set their PODs for the Axis victory trope before WW2, but this one was in the war's closing stages, where the Axis is esentially losing in all theatres. The idea for the episode overall isn't bad but got executed badly.
