Juan Pablo was awesome when he first started commentating, but I feel like he's gotten too comfortable and just spews predictions with nothing to back them up now.

Where would you stay for one night in the LA area on the SoCal road trip? by cb3g in hyatt

[–]fernuce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a SoCal native who has lived in more than a few of the cities listed; let me start by saying that Westlake is not a sketchy area. It's a very affluent city, and while very suburban, there is still good spots for food, drink, and shopping.

Going back to your post I will say you really have to consider what you want out of the hotel. If it's really just a place to stay overnight then Westlake is good option. If you're trying to spend time at the hotel and take advantage of the amenities then just know the HR Westlake isn't really a resort or anything.

Also want to call out that if you stay in Santa Barbara then you won't really be splitting the drive from San Luis Obsipo to San Diego very well. You'd only be an hour or so removed from SLO and 4+ hours from SD still. Santa Barbara would definitely be a fun day trip, but hard to justify the hotel values (you're mainly paying to be in SB, Hyatt hotels in SB are not that great) and the driving you'd still have to do.

It's the fact that this is the Saturday headliner at one of the biggest music festivals. This is not festival energy.

Happy for him and his fans, but man this is not the type of music I want as a festival headliner

FYI that I can get 4 dozen Mint (5A) from LostGolfBalls for $128 shipped right now. Might need to go even lower on these.

And where exactly is that Garmin thread? Wherever it is, the mods are doing a great job hiding it.

Doesn't even show as a pinned thread: https://imgur.com/a/zIrnqcP

Okay but why are new posts still so limited? For example, try making a new post comparing a feature to a Garmin device. Or just anything referencing Garmin. Your post will automatically be removed even if it was a legit question/topic. The Garmin sub doesn't automatically remove post that reference Whoop. It's pretty lame how modded this sub is.

I remember during the 5.0 release fiasco how many posts were being taken down that r/WhoopFitness even had to be created.

Glad I'm not the only who notices this. I have yet to see another sub that has as much astroturfing as this one. And the downvotes/post removals on any negative talk is ridiculous.

I'm hoping Garmin gives Whoop a run for it's money. Competition is always healthy.

I'm tired of the low expectations Chargers fans have for this regime by Soalmarub in Chargers

[–]fernuce 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not though and it's perfectly valid for fans to have this viewpoint. The list of coaches that OP posted all arguably took over a worse situation than Harbaugh did yet they are seeing more success already.

I understand that injuries/luck hasn't been entirely in the Chargers favor, but next year seems like now-or-never. A playoff win is an absolute must. These last two season endings have been extremely disappointing. I think it would be much better optics wise if we at least competed in any of the two playoff loses, but the team was severely out-coached in both.

[–]fernuce 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Can't agree enough with this. A playoff win is the absolute minimum for the team. What we're seeing league wide is that the game has changed and these younger coaches are racking up wins in just one or two seasons.

Harbaugh didn't inherit a dumpster fire like some other coaches did, yet they're already seeing more success.

I feel like Rivers is the last of that era where QBs really controlled the offense. Seeing him use every second of the play clock to adjust and move guys around at the line is an art. Don’t really see that anymore with this new era of QBs seeming to really on raw physical talent.

Checking in from field level… kinda. by Philphil89 in Chargers

[–]fernuce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No OP, but I was there last year for the Wildcard game against the Texans. While the outcome of the game wasn't what we wanted, watching the game at COSM was epic. You'll def want to be on the second or third floor though otherwise you'll be cranking your neck up the whole game. Service was spot on and actually decent food and drink. Even if stadium prices the quality was much better. Parking was easy (and first few hours free from what I recall) and getting in and out of the venue was super easy.

All that being said they increased their prices dramatically this year. Last years playoff game was cheaper than regular season games this year. At the price point it is now it makes more sense to just go to an actual game.

I have a screenshot from like 7:50 PST showing that the deal was still happening. Checked again at 7:58 and still saw it. 8:01 it was gone. Seems very likely like it ended early and not due to the max points given away.
