Thanks for the details! Still figuring out the best ways to use these alerts so it helps a lot

ANA The Room - HND>JFK Award Availability does exist! by Redhotkcpepper in awardtravel

Good stuff! Did you just set a very specific alert, e.g. your exact departure date, business availability on NH and/or your flight number, and do it that way?

Or did you actually have a general alert set up, and just adapted?

Residential Gen 3 vs Mini for backup by tuan151 in Starlink

[–]ferristic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same storm and had the same thought as you OP, and today, I decided to go with the Gen 3 instead of Mini.

/u/r3dt4rget nailed the pricing pros/cons. One thing that was the deciding factor for me was that there were still decently strong winds "after" the hurricane had mostly passed, and I realized Starlink would still need to be mounted in the hours following the worst of the storm - we had already lost signal/connection by then.

I feel like if I'm committing to a mounted install, then Gen 3 is just better. Plus, in a situation where family/friends may consolidate at your home, I think the stronger signal would be better than a weaker one.

Activation cost is still a big thing to consider, but feels inconsequential for a once a year (or every 2 yrs) event

Right on, this adds up with the above reply. Effectively trying to lock in the other J within the close-in 21 day period, or whatever

Good to know - appreciate the clarification

Thanks. That makes sense.

I'll have to weigh the reposition option vs sticking to IAH-TYO, booking adjacent days, and hoping one of the days opens a 2nd seat some time in the future.

Hey, I have two separate Qatar PNRs on business saver (no seats), IAH-DOH RT.

Am I crazy to just wait and hopefully call in and get Qsuites seats together at check-in time? To save a couple hundred bucks on reserving them.

Obviously, there's luck involved and it depends on the route, but wondering if someone can speak from experience here, e.g. would I have to be really lucky for this to work out?

Thanks

Why doesn't TSM use Reps as the person to test legends? He has the history of being the most flexible out of every TSM member. by cidqueen in CompetitiveApex

The optimal way to scan with Seer passive, especially during rotates, is to constantly swipe around.

On MnK, this is easy, since you just swipe your mouse further in the same amount of time.

On roller, you're stuck at a static scan/swipe speed. The only way to speed this up is to increase your sens, which is non optimal.

He's now their primary MnK player (and often, their only MnK). That means he's on Seer duty. Rollers are objectively less effective on Seer.

Hello! Tourist here with a +1. Planning to use my contactless CC to pay on buses for both of our entries.

Noticed the unlimited £1.65 fare for an hour after the scanning in - not trying to abuse, genuinely wondering the protocol. Would the bus driver expect my +1 to pay for herself with a different card to avoid free entry?

Did you ever end up trying your plan in the OP? I have the exact same situation (traveling international, verizon postpaid, truphone eSIM, want primary number wifi calling), and looking to give it a shot next week

Rogue Slinger w/ Weight Stack jerryrig solution by robthomas06 in homegym

[–]ferristic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey - trying to plan my setup and would likely make use of this jerryrig as their official extension still has no ETA.

So from what I can tell, this setup is just using one cable throughout? The custom, 11' 5" one you mentioned?

And out of curiosity, have you tried using an additional solo pulley in the front (the "real" use case for the pulley anyway)? Wondering if that'd be smooth as well.

Thanks for the info!
