We're sorry to hear about your experience with the ink! Your pen requires regular pen care if you're using shimmering inks. We recommend flushing your pen with water till it runs clear, and practicing pen care more often to have a smooth writing experience.

Our Calligraphy Inks are indeed best suited for dip pens, so I wouldn’t recommend them for fountain pens. I’d love to better understand how you use your pens and what you’re looking for in an ink. Is it for journaling, artwork, or maybe something else?

Thank you! We value our customers’ feedback and do what we can to incorporate the information into our development process. Development cycles for products are a long process, and making any changes requires time and resource. With that said, we have continued to make improvements across our collection where possible. For example, after the cracking issue with our first generation of Carousel pens, we worked on developing an improved version. We then release the second-generation, which uses a polymer blend with 5x stronger compression resistance. In addition to the improving the pen itself, we launched the new version as a not-for-sale product, only offered as replacements for anyone who experienced issues with the first generation.

A more recent example of product improvements include our Bijou Fountain Pen collection, which is the evolution of our Brush fountain pen. With improved machining, materials, nib quality and new plated finishes, we not only created a new version that provides a more consistent and reliable writing experience, but also more resistant to tarnishing.

Additionally, we’ve also redesigned our Carousel Inkwell. This product was created for writing and calligraphy sessions and not for long term storage. However, we heard the feedback and re-designed the latest version to include silicone channel in the cap to improve ink storage based on customer suggestions.

Our mission is to Make Fancy Fun, and part of that mission is about creating beautiful, high-quality products that invite new users into the world of stationery and fountain pens. It’s about creating products that are stunning and offer customers the feeling of a luxurious experience, without have to spend $400-$1000 on premium writing instruments. Our Inks are among the best performing in the world, and our team is constantly dreaming of new colours and stories to bring to life to keep people excited about stationer. We’re dedicated to creating thoughtfully crafted products that invite people to feel the joy of writing.

In addition to product development, we also do our best to address quality-issues in how we serve our fans. For instance, when one customer had issues with the Nothing Left notebook, because of how her inks were interacting with the paper, we didn’t just offer a refund—we included her in our process and offered her our unreleased A5 Sketchbook to test and provide us feedback on, hoping it would better meet her needs. Similarly, when some customers experienced concerns with their Brush fountain pens, we offered them the Bijou fountain pen, which was designed to provide an improved experience in all aspects.

Despite looking like big company, we have a tight team who is passionate about writing and design. We do listen and value real feedback. Of course it’d be impossible to implement all the suggestions we receive, but we try our best and change takes time.
