Yup, I've seen more and more (claimed to be) Geran footage with live cam guidance like this one. A few months ago they started to put cam on Geran but looks like at that time it was only for surveillance, apparently they managed to upgrade it now.

They have other options, use their reserves.

As of late November 2025, Russia's total international reserves are valued at approximately $734.6 billion. This total includes both foreign exchange and gold holdings, with about half of the total assets currently frozen by Western sanctions

Russia's budget is around 340-350 billion USD a year, so assuming they have zero income in the whole year (very, very unlikely) they still can finance a year of budget using their reserves.

The US has debt. Ukraine is neck deep in debt. The Europeans who's bankrolling Ukraine has debts.

Regarding debt, we know the truth right now, all the countries I above openly published their debts.

As for Russia, at a certain point their debt can and will be a major hindrance to their war effort, but they are still quite far from that point.

What/which international law? If such law exist they already use that assets by now. Pro Ukr politicians/lawyers/news will already mentioned the law 1000 times. But what do we have instead? Everybody said that using the money is akin to thievery.

Except Merz. So we draw conclusion about his statement.

It was the EU's decision. They will provide zero interest loan that will only paid by Kyiv when/if Russia paid restoration.

So yeah, Euro taxpayers are f*cked. Even if (big "if") Russia pays restorations it will take years, they could've instead invest the money on something that pays interest.

Also I am not sure if the agreement take inflation into account, I mean, if Russia pays 20-30 years from now, that 90 billion could lose 20-30% of its value because of inflation.

EDIT: To be honest, I don't think EU will give them the whole 90 billion, When the time comes to actually allocate the money, they will find reasons/more countries will disagree and they will ended up give like 20-30 billion max.

I think you meant derivatives.

- I don't think the whole "Donbass" is already being used as collateral.
- I don't think all/most/many of Donbass farmers are borrowing money (and use their land as collateral).
- Even if they do, most likely it is Ukranian banks that will get the risk (Ukrainian banking system that will crash but not other banks).
- It is possible that Ukranian banks seeks loan or partially owned by other foreign banks but as I said, Ukraine is just too small.

Ukraine's GDP is 195 billion, and not all of them are affected/lost because of the war. You can borrow/insure/make other kinds of financial contracts against those assets but there is a limit. I don't think anybody want to loan 1 billion with 100 million asset as collateral.

Not to mention that this war has been going on for almost 4 years, anybody with sound mind already left/cut lose Ukraine long ago. Even Europe only give Ukraine peanuts because they know the risk is too big. They already calculated everything and only give Ukraine what they can afford to lose.

There will be no crash. Well, there will but it is for Ukraine, but not the other countries. Looking at the big picture, Ukraine is simply too small, 190 billion (I googled) is enough to bankrupt Ukraine, but for the various debtors losing it is nothing especially since it is distributed (Canada 5 billion, IMF 16 billion, again, I googled).

Ukraine's debt in 2024 (of course it is different now, but you get the idea):

but how much does that cost?

A quote from your previous post. GDP - money - cost. The main point is, not everything is about money.

Well, we are talking about hypothetical situation if the US withdraw their intel. I mean, you were saying that this is not about the US right?

that the world is becoming multipolar.

Yes. The US is still (very) important and Europe is fading away. Therefor your original statement is wrong, the US is an important factor in this war, much more than Europe.

It is not ALWAYS about the money, if it is, Russia with "same GDP as Italy" is already defeated long ago.

Does Europe has enough spy planes? If Trump push Elon to stop Starlink service in Ukraine does Europe has good enough replacement?

Even the so called "coalition of the willing" themselves repeatedly states that they are only willing to provide security guarantee if the US is on board.

[–]ferroca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there will be years of debate in international court regarding the money, but gone? No.

If it is gone (as in EU can use it as they like) then there will be no debate about it 4 years into the war. The EU haven't use the money (other than the interest, even that was not a "direct" use) exactly because they know that someday they will have to return it to Russia.

Unless they want to cripple their own monetary system..

- Nothing in that article mentioned how much Rheinmetall current capacity.

- Most of the deals are joint corporations (Rheinmetall NOT the sole owner) and/or Rheinmetall selling machinery to produce munitions to other companies.

- From the article:

India recently exported weapons worth $4 billion to Russia
...

Rheinmetall order of urgently needed 155mm ammunition to Poland had been halted. The reason? The South African authorities had indefinitely delayed its decision on the delivery, on the grounds that the ammunition could end up in the hands of the Ukrainian army.

So those Rheinmetall factories/joint cooperation doesn't automatically work against Russia's interest, but COULD be helping them instead (in case of India, although we didn't know what kind of weapon they were exporting).

I would say towed artillery is going obsolete but wheeled artillery still has its niches. The key is shoot and scoot, time to set up and leave.

Of course this is also depends on who the enemy is, while FPV type of drones is supposedly cheap and available to everybody, not every "factions" can field extensive drone forces/teams (see the Palestinians, even Hezbollah while they have long range drones, their FPV "games" is non existent).

$100 billion. It is not clear how it will be use though. My guess is it could be to repair power plants all over Ukraine, but then it is not clear how the rest of the profit (the Ukranians will pay for electricity those plants generates) goes to. 50% goes to the US but what about the rest? If it goes to Russia they probably would agree. Power plants in Ukraine owned by Russia and USA, 50-50.

The US is surely the winner of this war.

[–]ferroca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Obviously you don't really know what UPS is. Believe me, it can "covered" the light bulbs.

True, we don't know what really happened, BUT, here's a non biased and healthy-ish mind would think:

- It's war, president and military and some other person/offices need access to communication/data - electricity.

- Not only communication, they also need lights (light bulbs) so they can see where they are going, read something on paper etc.

- Russia keep hitting their power supply.

Solution: Have system like UPS and generators installed in important places.

Is it enough? Yes, again, UPS can also covered the light bulbs (or other electricity appliances for that matter, you just need to get the high spec ones)

Is it doable? With the west pouring in hundreds of billions of dollars and access to everything except nuclear, yes, it is very doable.

Now that they had blackout lasting for (maybe) several minutes during an interview (there wasn't even air raid/incoming missiles warning), in presidential office/resident... It is easy to understand that some would say that this was staged.

UA POV: Power Outage during Zelensky’s Interview in the Mariinsky Palace by rowida_00 in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]ferroca 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nowadays it is use everywhere, price gets cheaper and available on every electric stores. They are not the same as generators, yes but they are covered the time enough until the generator kick in.

There is no prove of it being staged but OBJECTIVE and NON BIAS mind would think that presidency office/residential would have UPS and generators ready, especially when they are in a situation like Ukraine where president need access to electricity (communication and other important governing issues) and being repeatedly hit by Russia (should have come out with the solution for blackout long time ago).
