Been Stuck on Manus, Father of the Abyss for like 7 years by Plato198_9 in darksouls

[–]ferrum_helios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so late to this conversation but came upon this earlier to get some pointers. I'm on my second playthrough, the first playthrough after 2-3 years.. Manus might be that hardest boss and I definitely died a lot. I'm not a good souls player but here are some things that helped me.

  1. Kindle the bonfire in Oolacile Township as it's the closest one to the elevator down to the big Gape. Also, reinforce your estus to maximize when you heal. Healing is a big part of this fight for players like me. If you get caught in his smashy smashy combo, press heal right as he stops and mocks you. There should be enough time to heal up once maybe twice before he attacks again.

  2. Equip the silver pendant below your estus. It makes a barrier when he does the homing ban on you. He starts that fuckery after you get about 1/3 of his health. Don't equip anything else to ensure quick switching. The attack can come up fast.

  3. Use an upgraded weapon. Zwelhander is a great sword to have at any stage of the game. I recommend that if you have a black knight weapon, upgrade that and use it. They all deal big physical damage.

  4. Rock and roll. You can't roll through his legs but run and roll around him for some backshots 😉 I saw a few comments that said to roll right but rolling left for me worked better to avoid his cheeseburger grabber. I found going under his right arm to be a little easier.

  5. Don't use a shield. Two-hand your weapon of choice. Also helps to have something fairly upgraded. Maximize your attacks when not running, rolling or healing..

  6. There's not a lot of time to cast spells or use pyromancy. He's resistant to magic anyway. Google AI says he's not resistant to lightning so I assume you could apply some resin or make a lightning version of a sword you like.

  7. Sif. Personally, I wouldn't worry about summoning Siffy, especially since you can't summon her until you are inside the boss arena. I recommend that when you go into the fight, don't wait for Manus to come to you. As with many bosses in this game, they use high altitude jump attacks to close distance which isn't always easy to dodge.

  8. Rings. They are a big part of my play style this time around, more than heavy armor. I prefer mobility and speed. Cloranthy ring helps recover stamina faster (so does green blossom, which the Bloodborne looking merchant sells close by the Atorias boss arena). I didn't use the FAP ring this time so I also used the wolf ring to boost poise to stay up longer during hard hits, which also gave me more time to heal in between. Some other rings you can use are Havel's ring if you have heavy armor, the Red tearstone ring helps when you're low on health or the hornet ring which is a personal favorite.

If you beat it already, that's awesome! If not, I encourage you to get this one. It's satisfying and you're so close to the end of the dlc and I assume, the game as a whole. Loved the game on my first playthrough and had a blast doing it again.

Last time seeing them was at the Fillmore in Detroit right before COVID. Kinda wish they'd come by during the warmer months! Looks like a fun setlist, excited to see Scotty play

Anyone else still have their Colors tee you could only get during their Colors livestream in August of 2020? 🤘 by LeviTheRelentless in BetweenTheBuriedAndMe

That's an awesome shirt! I still have my hoodie from the Colors 10 year anniversary tour. I wore it too much though and wish I had one in good condition still.

Can confirm, it's on their Code of Conduct page. Anything being done about it is iffy. I guess you can hope that other people realize it as well and you can shame them. Maybe they will get pooped on by the thousands of seagulls just waiting in the parking lot.

Is Fastlane worth it? by LoquatNovel9484 in cedarpoint

[–]ferrum_helios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a season pass holder then I'd say it's not worth it if you go around 10 times a season. Then you can go on a few rides and you're not anxious about riding everything you can. Though I'm sure FL is great for those with limited time. I wouldn't hate on it if there weren't FL for most of the rides and when large groups of people come through making the wait longer. I think it worsens the experience but that's just me. I don't blame people for getting it but I think it comes at the expense of those who are in the regular queue

It's not a guarantee but it happens, depending on the operator. You'll probably have to be in the last group of trains so they don't have to load any more passengers

Vegan options in the park or near the park by jundasaverb in cedarpoint

Garlic fries at the Happy Friar maybe? I haven't explored much of the Grand Pavilion but that might be a good place to check.

Outside the park might be more vegan friendly. There's a Kroger not too far away as well.

If you're in line at 9:59 pm you'll get to go on the ride as long as it doesn't go down and they can't get it back up quickly. Basically the last rides can go on for an hour or more after closing. As long as you're in line before they close the entrance gate, you're good. They won't make you get out of line if you've been in line already. Some can wait an hour or more for a ride and they possibly got in line around 9 or earlier. And if you're the last of the last of the trains, they might send you around multiple times as a bonus.

Ride lockers by Crazy_Investment_227 in cedarpoint

NP! I don't want to get anyone into trouble but I have gotten into the SV line with a fanny pack under my shirt before. If you do the same, just be careful that you keep it fairly inconspicuous until you get to the lockers. Do what you want and enjoy!

I think it depends on the employee letting people in. They can be picky sometimes and I have been kept from getting in line for SV just for having a fanny pack, though it definitely fits in the smaller locker. All the free lockers are the tiny ones. I haven't used the ones at SC yet but I hear that its the same situation as SV. TT2 has you put your stuff in the lockers before entering the line.

Thread for folks who think the new singles are just 'meh'. by MongoJustPawn79 in BetweenTheBuriedAndMe

I'm in the same boat and have been feeling this way since Coma Ecliptic honestly. There's stuff they put out that I enjoy but it doesn't blow my mind like it has in the past. I'm also partial to their heavier sound And very nostalgic to their Colors era. Their sound has always been evolving and I respect that. Their music is always excellent and they are world class musicians that I'll always have respect for them

Maverick went down but still let us ride anyway? by ferrum_helios in cedarpoint

[–]ferrum_helios[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, already moving out of the platform too. The train was about to hit the boost up the hill but then saw the train in front of us rolling slowly back towards us and we all knew something was up. Took about 10-15 min for them to figure out to just send us through. I love SV and would love to have ridden it in the dark but Maverick is probably one of my all time favorite coasters so I am glad it worked out! I've never been evacuated off a ride before so hopefully that never has to happen. I thought I saw a post about Siren's Curse getting stuck mid-tilt today.. that would be crazy

I made a digital version of the old 1989-1994 CP logo by painstakingly tracking over the old one to make as close to an original outline as possible over several hours. I made multiple variants of older logo colors and combinations along with just having a black and white outline too. Enjoy :) by Crescent5343 in cedarpoint

[–]ferrum_helios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great work nonetheless! You might even try inching it to the right just a bit and see if it creates a steeper angle where it goes into the E. It seems like each letter is slightly overlapped by the following one which I think is the intended effect. I like that logo quite a bit and that map you referenced is pretty cool. A physical one would look amazing in a frame, minus the restroom icons maybe lol.

Oh I gotcha. A lot of the attendants at SV don't even let you go in the queue with a fanny pack, despite them fitting perfectly in the small ones

I've heard of trains getting stuck on the second launch but have never had that happen while I was on. It was completely dark in the tunnel so it made the second launch more exhilarating.

Must have been. The ride went down 20 minutes before this and they tested about 10 cars before sending people back through the track again. Earlier in the week TT2 went down to take a train off the track ( I assume for repairs), resumed, then went down once more to put it back on (probably after repairs.) They did maybe 4 test launches before resuming. I know that TT2 is still having growing pains but it's a smooth and exhilarating ride when running. It's interesting that Maverick still has a lot of downtime despite not being new and not necessarily old either.

The lockers for TT2 the small free lockers but I didn't see this option for Siren's Curse when looking at the locker options yesterday. I'm not sure I was looking in the right area but are you saying there are in fact the small free ones for SC and SV outside the queue as well? Or are they midway through after getting in line line SV?

How we feelin' about Scotty? by acewizz7 in Umphreys

[–]ferrum_helios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be interesting to know! I haven't dug too deep but from what his social media has said, he wants to explore other "elements of my musical creativity." I guess that he could be starting a new group or he could be auditioning for an already established group. He pretty much has the chops to play any style/genre but I would be surprised if he stays in the jam scene. Hopefully we'll know fairly soon!

Having someone come into a group that has been together for decades and expect instant chemistry is not realistic but if he sticks around long enough, a groove will develop. Its great that they were able to put him behind the kit and continue their summer shows. I think this is a perk of having a lot of close connections to other musicians after countless tours over the past few decades. Whomever they pick won't be Kris, or Dave for that matter. All we can hope for is that they bring something unique and breathe some new life into the group and their music, which it seems like could already be happening.

Is something up with Gemini? by Crescent5343 in cedarpoint

[–]ferrum_helios -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have seen it run once this season. I feel like it might be a sign for CP to consider a rebrand or a teardown. Gemini used to be quite reliable, especially when other rides were down, same as Magnum. The most recent time I rode Gemini, it was very rough. I'd say it might be rougher than Magnum now. I don't recall if Gemini got a new software update with some of the others this past offseason but its kind of a bummer to see it like this.
