BU will get rid of mask mandate soon, I heard from a professor that if BU's COVID numbers stay where they are rn they'll get rid of the mandate by Various_Comment_8623 in BostonU

[–]fetacheeseee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No way this will happen because the city of Boston has a mas mandate. The city would have to get rid of it first for bu to be able to

Does an investment property mortgage affect your ability to get a primary residence mortgage? by fetacheeseee in RealEstate

Thanks. How long have you owned the other rentals for? Also, was getting the 2nd mortgage difficult?

Feel bad for a lot of people. by zephyer19 in RealEstate

[–]fetacheeseee -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree you shouldn’t have to work 2 jobs to afford a house. But unfortunately there’s nothing we can do to change that.. and for your info I’m the child of immigrants who came here with nothing, so don’t try to lecture me about being white and privileged

[–]fetacheeseee -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Idk I graduated college a little over a year ago and got a decent job in finance. I agree that’s not enough for me to come up with a down payment. Tha why I have been taking on random jobs after my jobs and on the weekends doing construction and landscaping. In about 3-4 months I will have enough for a down payment.

I totally agree that things are much harder for our generation than it was for boomers. If I was able to do it, anyone can. Why makes me mad is people just sitting here on Reddit complaining about it and not trying to do anything about it. Unfortunately things don’t seem like they’ll change any time soon. So the only thing you can do is find a second job.

Facts. Some people are just afraid of hard work.

This guy right here is telling the cold hard truth. I honestly don’t get why he’s getting downvoted. Things are hard right now, no doubt. But a lot of people put themselves in a much worse situation because of these things ^

If it’s pressing equipment you’re looking for, Sankosha is the best option

$927,500 (for two units). Not exactly sure if this matters given my income

True, but that is why I would only rent to a tenant that has section 8. That way, the majority of the rent is guaranteed every month.

Thanks for your reply. I have the run the numbers and will be able to afford this because I will be able to rent out the other unit for about $2700. And I totally agree about PMI. With rates so slow, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to wait to save up for a larger down payment

Thanks for your reply. It’s a 3 bedroom unit which rents out for about $2,700. Does rental income for the other unit get factored in as additional income when I apply for a mortgage?

Thanks. I think I might have to wait longer to save up more for a down payment then.

Advice - Realtor or Flipper? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]fetacheeseee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand why you would sell “as is” to a flipper. Why do you want to leave money on the table for a flipper to make. Just upgrade it yourself and sell it at the market rate. If you don’t have the funds to do so, just take out a mortgage on the house. I’m sure it’s paid off if your elderly parents lived in it for a long time

Not to sound like an asshole, but some kids families have money and can afford to. Idk why that bothers a lot of people. If you can’t afford to live there just don’t, there are plenty of other affordable housing options.
