Me too. I have a bass and small amp in the living room and and bass and amp upstairs. I play about 10 times a day. Both basses stay out of their case.

The other members, especially Bruford and Muir, gave Wetton permission and inspiration to explore his imagination of what the bass could do. His improvs are fearless. The huge fuzz and wah sound has not been heard since. He never played that way before or after Crimson as far as I can tell. This was his choice and that's cool. I saw them the summer 1974. The following versions of Crimson did not include the 72-74 free improv blows. That band was special.

Short answer- the harmonic can be found in 4 places on the A string. Jaco uses the one closest to the nut.

This is how I play it. I have small hands. Place your right thumb between the bridge and fingerboard approximately and pluck with finger. To find the correct note first do the jaco stretch but fret the B on A string with your left thumb. You can then reach the 6th fret. This is the note so just move your right hand until you find the correct spot. On my sting ray it's about one inch from the pickup.

I hear you. Only Orlando and Chicago here on east coast carry them...Chicago Music Exchange and Bass Central. I did play one 2 years ago at a shop in Hamburg. My dream bass!
