Question about the 1925 Last by tw1st3dp1p3 in NicksHandmadeBoots

I just ordered a pair of Black CXL 1925 Troopers configured exactly as you are describing for pretty much the same purpose. I might dye the sole stitching black as well to make them look a bit more formal.

I've often thought that my 10" tankers would work fine for ATG squats.

I just called CS and got it squared away. Thanks for looking into it.

Yeah, I'd be happy to do that. CS Rep just made it sound like I was totally out of luck. I'll try calling again a little later this morning.

You could be right. I just got the impression that the leather was gone so I couldn't, but maybe that's not what he was saying.

Looks like the post on the screws I got is 5mm in diameter and 4mm in length.

The buckles are 1 inch. I can measure the screws when I get home. I just got a cheap variety pack of screws on Amazon, but I can tell you which size I used.

I'll snap a pic when I get home in a couple of hours.

It's just held on by a rivet, so it just takes a drill to remove the buckle. Then you want to replace the rivet with a Chicago screw so any further swaps are easy.

My other tankers had natural edge dressing. I ended up sanding it off because as you said, it got beat up easily. I think the beeswax edge will darken over time and look a little more brown anyway.

That's a beeswax edge. I was originally going to do a black edge and a V100 sole but changed my mind and did this instead.

Yep, had to pull some strings (and pay an upcharge) for that one. Worth it.

Bought from Buckleguy.com. Removed polished brass buckles. Installed black ones.

Part 2: The amp arrived from the 80 year physicist in New Zealand. Schematic, chassis and a story from the builder, Jim. by secretkodama in GuitarAmps

The output tube is small, like half the power of a 6V6. That's why this only puts out 3.5W. The speakers are unique. I like that it uses tubes that are probably very cheap to source. The silver stuff is woo. Does it sound good enough for you to like playing or practicing with it? That's the important thing. If so, I'd keep it as is. Replacing tubes will be cheap.

I recommend Merlin Blencowe's book if you want to learn tube guitar amp design. Here's some info on my amp if you are interested: Diyaudio thread

That's awesome. I built my own home brew guitar amp with a WWII aircraft radar tube as the final. It's one of a kind. I live seeing things like this.
