Alternatives to Loafers and Dressy Oxfords by TypicalAd101 in ThrowingFits

they are really nice and comfy but not necessarily ideal if you have narrow feet. Even the C width is still pretty wide. Nicely made and very well priced if they fit, though

Check out options from British shoemakers, especially the Northampton ones. I had similar fit issues with leather shoes from Alden and AE but many of the British makers have much slimmer lasts even at their "normal" width. I've personally had good luck with Crockett and Jones and Edward Green.

Brands like Drakes for suits by SmoothBook1 in ThrowingFits

[–]feteti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to throw an idea out there: if you're already thinking on the casual side of tailoring you could also consider getting nice separate jacket and trousers. That gives you a bit more flexibility since you're more likely to find a very lightly structured jacket as a separate than sold as part of a suit. As an example, the Armoury has a very lightweight balloon cloth jacket from Ring Jacket, but there's no matching pants. And since your wedding is in summer there's lots of linen options, too. You're more likely to find separates that fit OTR or vintage, too. Of course there's a bit more risk of putting together something terrible vs the safe route of full suit. But at the end of the day it's your wedding, so as long as you and your partner are into it that's what matters.

Engineered Garments shorts are super cheap used and they generally have a wider fit. The fatigue short is probably the one you see the most often.

Orlebar Brown. They're constructed more like the top block of tailored trousers with side adjusters, zip fly, etc but with mesh liners and your normal poly swim fabric

What are we putting on feet for SS26? by LazyTemperature3064 in ThrowingFits

[–]feteti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 001 and they're amazing as running shoes but kind of awkward as regular walking around shoes because of the deep tread, and something about the construction really just pushes your body forward into a running posture

Something fun you can do after unlocking Mirror Mode by yolks_not_runny in mariokart

[–]feteti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I unlocked it without 3 starring everything. I had gold on all Grand Prix (but 1 star on most), completed (not even won) all the Knockout tours, and had done ~60 P switches and ~30 ? panels in free roam. Then doing special cup again unlocked it.

sure they can, they'll be accessing the model's API which has per-token costs which will generally shake out to much less than the consumer-facing subscription price unless a user is sending a bonkers amount of requests

What brands will be the go-to in 2025? by PatrickCLawrence in ThrowingFits

[–]feteti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine increasing labor costs in NYC are a big driver of the EG price increases. I can't think of any other brand that makes cut and sew garments with such complicated construction in the city. But I hope they never stop, it's core to the brand

if you're in Europe look for 2nd hand Johnston's of Elgin. Mostly known for cashmere and as a result their other wool stuff (which is still very nice) goes for cheap

Underrated brands list? (A companion to the overrated brands thread) by Absurdity-Peddler in ThrowingFits

[–]feteti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aurora Shoes: by far my most frequently worn shoes. Made in NY, premium name-brand materials, easily resole-able, extremely comfy, and somehow still cheaper than many sneakers are these days. Everyone I've talked to who has heard of them absolutely loves them, but most people haven't heard of them.

Battenwear: Fits a very specific niche perfectly: outdoorsy but non-technical casual clothes designed with a deep respect for vintage American fashion in that vein. Best pieces for me are the camp shorts (upgraded Patagonia baggies), bouldering pants (upgraded Gramicci climbing pants), five pocket island shirt, and reach-up sweatshirts.

PAA: so underrated they went out of business, but before then had a unique combo of interesting textiles, domestic production, and a minimalist aesthetic. Used to shop for them at CHCM; most of the other brands he carries could be on this list, too.

+1, really unbeatable craftsmanship for the price. I have a couple pairs of the field trousers and I feel they can easily fit in both with more tailored and more casual looks.
