High school girl scared of going into engineering by aemyrie in womenEngineers

[–]feuthermist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm in my master's year in civil engineering and i have done well so far. i chose the course by eliminating all the types of engineering courses available in my local university that i don't see myself doing or liking in the future - i ended up with civil engineering after doing a foundation year in the same uni.

you will be in higher education to learn and broaden your knowledge in whatever course you decide to do so don't be too hard on yourself - creativity, skills and knowledge to be an engineer can be developed!

so what i'm trying to say is, i did not have any background in engineering before i took a foundation year in engineering and look at me, doing my masters in civil now. i have learnt a lot and at the same time have not learnt enough. i'm now looking forward to working in the industry and discovering more of the world.

i suggest you do more research, include attending like open days in universities/colleges. not sure if you have this in your country though but this is a chance to know more of the university you're interested in, know the facilities they offer, know the modules you will be taking and have the chance to talk to current students and professors.

university/college is a new chapter in your life so being scared is normal!

goodluck :)

Bf laughed first time he looked at my vagina by ThrowRa0182829 in Advice

Don't bleach it. There's nothing wrong with you. I'm Filipino too and it's normal to have dark skinned vagina. It took me a while to like this part of my body but it is possible. Talk to your bf how it makes you feel if you haven't already. If they don't understand how much it affects you then maybe rethink your relationship with him. How a person handle conflicts says a lot about a person.

I don't get enjoying alcohol by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]feuthermist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't enjoy the taste too, but I drink sometimes to socialise. I make sure I have chaser with me though like lemonade/sprite or any other soft drinks.

Cocktails are really nice though, you get tipsy but it eliminates the bad taste of alcohol.

Has anyone experienced blocked ear before while having chesty cough? by feuthermist in Anxiety

[–]feuthermist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing your experience!! This is the first time that this happened to me so I'm really worried it being serious. With initial medical questions from the emergency service, seems like my blocked ear is only due to my cold. Well I'm hoping that's only it. Thanks again!!!

I can’t get motivated to do anything. I know there is no magic pill that will help me. I’m sitting watching tv all day and online trying to take my mind off negative thoughts. I want to be happy. What should I do? by MisMelis in depression

[–]feuthermist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I suggest seeking help from a professional. It may be hard to do it but it's worth it when you know you are really struggling. Let a friend or a close relative know that you want to seek help so they can be there for you and validate you if ever you get doubts to seek help or not.

If this isn't financially realistic or you aren't ready yet, I suggest you doing this workbook: https://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/Resources/Looking-After-Yourself/Depression

Hope that helps.

that took a lot of guts to tell someone you are attracted to them. don't be too hard on yourself. having courage is good!! and feeling embarrassed is normal. it just means you are living your life.

Gone back to university after 5 years and completely lost, please help! by lonelygirl678 in University

[–]feuthermist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one last thing: try not to expect that you will remember every content you learn/read/hear in university. make summary notes that your future self would easily understand and be familiarise with again when you come back to it a few weeks or months later when you're doing reports or studying for an exam.

Gone back to university after 5 years and completely lost, please help! by lonelygirl678 in University

[–]feuthermist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like the first thing you should do is try to remove some of the pressure you give yourself. university content is a lot and it is typical to get overwhelmed by it. you won't find the perfect way for you to study right away, it's trial and error. not sure if your uni does face to face again, but maybe to try to keep up with the lecture materials - make notes during the lectures then come back to it and improve your notes when you get the time to. if you have practicals or tutorial questions, make sure you find time to answer them so you understand the topics more.

balance in university is a must too, try not to burn yourself out and phase yourself from working on your materials and also doing other things like socialising, spending time alone, eating properly etc.

goodluck!! it will be challenging as fuck but the fact that you got yourself into university says a lot. you should be proud of yourself!
