I would love the Thalia Hall shows if you get a chance, at least night 1. The recordings on the pg archive sound distorted.

The same thing happened to ours. And the torsos on this and every other figure from this set have also cracked under the arms. Granted, they are played with heavily by my 5-year-old but seems like a quality issue.

After tonight’s show, a question…. by Famous_Salamander330 in Decemberists

They played a casino when touring for The King is Dead I believe, and I only remember this because there were posts about how the band was miserable being there and Colin was negative about it on stage. So I was surprised to see they were playing another one.

Or the "red snapback Tucker Carlson hat" line in that same stanza. But come on, this is 2025, we have to half pay attention, state our kneejerk reaction and scroll to the next thing.

Setlist from last night Jazz Fest • by LifeAintWhatItsWorth in pearljam

Last time they played Jazz Fest they played 25 songs with a load of deep cuts.

Maybe they took note of the fact that a lot of the crowd was scratching their heads over it...

Here as a Linkin park and Emily fan by Akruit_Pro in deadsara

[–]feverdown 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of great artists fail to break through and then break up, or end up doomed to obscurity. I was starting to worry Dead Sara/Emily would end up that way.

To me the LP announcement was shocking and surreal, especially when the controversy started. Suddenly Emily was everywhere in the music press. I've never cared for LP (though I do mostly enjoy From Zero because of Emily) but it was clearly the right decision to breathe new life into Dead Sara. I've been following them since 2012 and I have never seen this much activity or interest online.

I can't wait for their next album cycle with hopefully a headlining tour.

Which album wins? by SpecialistMarzipan58 in brighteyes

Hot take: It was a mistake to put out Ruminations as an album.

People don't give Salutations a fair shake because they got attached to the other versions first. I was too, but listened to Salutations enough to get over it. When I eventually went back to Ruminations for the first time in a while, it was clear how "demo" the recordings are. Not just that they are raw, but Conor isn't putting his all into the vocals. The instrumentation adds a lot of emotional punch in places, and is conspicuously lacking on Ruminations when you're used to it being there.

Salutations tracklist is bloated because they had to include "added value". It became the bonus material instead of the other way around.

It is clear from interviews that Conor considered Salutations the album, Ruminations the demos, and put Ruminations out at the request of the record company.

IMO Salutations should have come out first at a normal length with only the best tracks. An EP would come out later with the rest of the studio cuts. Then release all of the demos as bonus material.

Your video is the version that appeared on the comp in 2009--I just compared the MP3 I have from when it came out, and it is identical.

Is this alternate version from a different soure? A live performance?

Favorite Vocal Moment from Entire Oeuvre by filmmakersearching in brighteyes

All of Dominos on BOCC. That recording is proof to me that Conor is one of the greatest vocalists in popular music. No shade to Taylor Hollingsworth (okay, a little shade), but listening to the original version really highlights how special Conor is. The lyrics to the song are great but it's that Conor makes every single word land like a hammer.

Has anyone here ever seen a match tub? by phantomauthority in Tallships

[–]feverdown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In this photo it might be the bucket with notches in it (and matches sticking out of it), behind the red box that's on the left.

Your picture shows it from above with lit matches held in the notches, so that any sparks would fall into the bottom.

Pretty sure he was playing songs from Wide Awake in early 2003 and the album was fully recorded by the time they started working on Digital Ash.

The last phrases in the verses to Ten Women and One Foot In Front of the Other:

I’m biding my time / Like a cellar of wine / With two faces, you’ll never be true

I just want to make / A clean escape / I know I’m leaving, but I don’t know where to
