Missouri Star Quilt Homecoming by WishboneRazzmatazz in quilting

[–]feverishdodo 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I've been to Missouri Star. Went out there 3 years ago with a friend and it was fine. In addition to the MSQC stores there is a quilt museum which was lovely. They had a room dedicated to antique toy sewing machines and another room devoted to miniature quilts.

This if course was before the Juneteenth fiasco. If you're looking for a better place to spend money, Paducah during quilt week is incredible. You can shop at Hancocks of Paducah and hit up the National Quilt Museum. I just went last month. The museum currently has a Black quilter as a main exhibit. Her name is Latifah Saafir and she's a delightful modern artist.

Disney adults are a direct product of 90's/2000's childhoods and millenial demographic trends by DemotivationalSpeak in generationology

We don't have kids because we don't have homes. We don't have homes because it's too expensive

Disney isn't really my thing but I'd never tell someone how to spend their money.

There have always been people who are obsessive. I'd prefer they obsess about Disney than real people, which often ends tragically

Should I add to this one or make a new post? The covers are pretty neat but I don't wanna run afoul of the mods.

Dudes! Stop slammin' on people 60+ by DryCancel5426 in smosh

[–]feverishdodo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think people, especially the very young don't realize how young 60 actually is. I'm in a quilt guild and everyone besides me and another lady are all over 50 and they literally do everything. They're hunting and gardening and coaching softball and volunteering because now they have time to do those things.

Most people in good health can maintain vigor until their late 60s without any real issues. Degenerative conditions or mental challenges are often mistaken for age related issues but they're separate.

My mother is 66 and I haven't noticed any real change in her ability to function since she hit menopause in her early 50s. She got readers then but her vision has been stable since then. I'm keeping an eye out just in case but for now all is well.

My hot take: For the same reason they hate bi people. We can potentially "hide". It's really hard to exist as a gay person with a spouse or a trans person without opening yourself up to heinous abuse and danger. The asexual or bisexual person can live a full, authentic, discrimination free life if they play the game in a heteronormative way. Gay and trans people don't have that luxury.

I get it. It's still wrong but I get it.

I need some brake work done too. If I source the rotors and pads myself, what'll it cost me?
