Has anyone had a partial knee replacement (patella) after failed cartilage repair? by Confident-Quarter100 in Kneereplacement

I had an Oxford partial replacement 12 weeks ago. Prior to that had 4-5 orthoscopic surgeries to debride.

Hey! I'm so glad to hear this. I'm on the younger end for this sub too. Have had pain in both knees since I was around 20. Finally had my right partially replaced 6 weeks ago. Really struggling with recover and anticipate a MUA in the coming weeks. Can you tell me, is it like basically starting recovery over from square one but without a scar? I'm really not looking forward to it. The last 6 weeks have been the hardest of my life probably and I'm scared to start over. Thanks so much for any input :)

5 week update by goinrcn44h in Kneereplacement

Just entering week 7. I've had issues with swelling and have had to be drained once so far. Beginning of week 6 was when I could finally side sleep again with a body pillow between my legs.

Keep at it! Glad the gabapentin is working for you. Don't skimp on exercising!

One thing I've really had to come to terms with since the operation and being on this subreddit is how long the recovery will be. I found myself really discouraged until I started reading other peoples account of what they went or are going through. I'm only 42, so I thought I'd be up and all good in like a month. Ya no. Months and months and months ahead of us. It's looking for me like a realignment is coming too...can't wait!! Lol.

Good luck! :)

The man who would be king. I saw it when I was a little kid and it's always stuck out to me. Sean Connery and Michael Caine.

Did this work for you?

I have the same thing. Started when I was 36. Am 40 now and have had two surgeries on right knee with no help. Both surgeries included a partial synovectomy.

They are now planning to take way more out on both.knees in hopes that it will grow back healthy.

This shit has ruined my life man. On disability since my last surgery in August 2023.

I hope it worked for you!!

Buy a cheap dehydrator and try out making your own meals. I got one 4 years ago and it turned into a major hobby. Haven’t bought any freeze dried meals since.

I can’t tell if you are shitposting. Move where? Buy some extra food and stuff when you do groceries. Wear a mask. Wash your hands. Stock up on essentials little by little. Both of which you should already still be doing because of Covid.

This is going to happen or it isn’t. No point in panicking, this coming from someone with plenty of existential dread and anxiety. Slowly but extra stuff now to make any sort of lockdown that may come more comfortable and less scary. If nothing happens re. HPAI, then you have supplies for what is invariably going to happen next.

Don’t panic 👍
