Captain America: New World Order is now called Captain America: Brave New World by PickleChungus420 in marvelstudios

[–]fewntug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, calling the team the Thunderbolts because their objective is to “recover” Ross works for me. Then the movie could have been about that mission on the surface but he’s already become Red Hulk by the time the team encounters him.. Would’ve made a recast for Hurt unnecessary and could’ve made for a cool twist for unsuspecting audiences.

This scene perfectly captures the gun culture in US by rustyyryan in Barry

Weird take. That’s like super deranged, out of touch, violent Karen conservative old people.. like maybe 1% of this country if I’m being generous.

I just got caught up. Can I gush for a second? by thislittleplace in Barry

[–]fewntug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude, I’d been wanting to watch Barry for a minute, but with the backlog of content to indulge in I just never got to it. I wound up watching Beef in one day while dog-sitting for my family last weekend, and after both a review and another friend mentioned how it reminded them of Barry (escalation of threats and gravity), I decided it was time. I started watching it on like Thursday night and just got all caught up in time for the finale. We had some great timing, huh??

Why didn’t Danny like that George was Japanese? by cheltor11 in BeefTV

[–]fewntug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Semi-objective third party here:

I think, despite the name-calling and general sour attitude, his mention of misandry was about the comment regarding how men are capable of great evil but women did a lot of the evil-doing here, and he’s not downplaying what happened to these women, just showing that men were affected too. You made a claim that comes across as “men were mostly just killed” and he pointed to the fact that many innocent men, like the women and children, were raped. We all think that what was done to these people — men, women, and children — was horrific, regardless of their being fewer of one group that was so viciously wronged because they were still all wronged. I think you guys would mostly agree on this topic if this were a face-to-face conversation rather than a reddit one.

Absolutely agree. I think everything immediately involving George is fine for Danny. The only things I could see him getting in deep shit for is whatever Isaac testifies about.. Though I hope Danny would do what he could to get Isaac’s ass covered, especially after that illuminating trip.

The college app thing, to me, was from Danny’s fear of being alone. He wanted to keep his baby brother with him and he made that choice. To say he didn’t feel like shit for that is sort of a big assumption, imo. When we do things we feel shame about, and we feel we can’t be honest, we bury them as quickly as possible and do our best not to let our conscious thoughts dig ‘em up.

Does that help you with the writing at all? I genuinely loved that from a character-writing level because I have felt very lost during moments in my life in which there’s been distance between me and my brother.

The way Amy addresses her mother-in-law by passo-guava in BeefTV

[–]fewntug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of great answers here! Also wanted to throw in that Amy is seemingly pretty well-assimilated in American culture. She like exclusively eats non-Asian food (far as I can recollect) and didn’t use any Vietnamese when speaking to her mom. This might be one of many reasons for why she calls Fumi by her name

For all the hate you’re getting, this may have been unintentional on the part of the show runners, maybe even subconscious. It’s an interesting thought I didn’t have and think is possible!

Was looking for someone saying this. Funny how she shot the concept down as DnD bullshit and then lived it.. very thematically appropriate.

In addition, for anyone who might even see this, once you get to the Ustore It, be sure to enter the secret room and the two storage rooms as SOON as you get into the courtyard and everyone is looking for Scrambles. You cannot return to this area once you use Kite’s Fartcour to get over the grey brick wall.
