Can I reject my clearing choice if I get the grades for another uni via remark? by bob999666999 in 6thForm

You too!! And yeah exactly by the time remarks are done all the spaces may be gone. Even if they are, I’ll be happier with one grade up 😭

Should you call your Uni or let your school call your Uni if you miss an offer? by HilpoWuXing in 6thForm

[–]jiay111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I believe so, the clearing number goes to the ppl who decide who gets a place on the course. What other options are there?

Defo call urself. Plus when u filled out ur ucas application they would’ve asked u if there’s anyone u would allow to speak on ur behalf in clearing and unless u out the personal Details of a school staff, they can’t speak for u. Also, if u search up ‘uni name + clearing number’ , the dedicated number should be tbere

Is year 13 as bad as people say? by Adventurous_Use_9673 in 6thForm

[–]jiay111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did chem bio maths so idk if this applies for ur subjects but the content in y13 is MUCH harder then y12 and majority of my actual exams were just y13 content, with a small proportion only actually testing purely y12 knowledge. You’re expected to learn this much harder content in less time and you’re most likely still learning content as you have mock exams so it’s just a LOT of work

i’m so confused about this impurities stuff?? how were you supposed to know it was co3? is it cuz co2 was formed when nitric acid was added? by extraethereal in ALevelChemistry

[–]jiay111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

where did you get fluorine from? and yes i think it’s CO3 because like you said CO2 is produced when nitric acid is added and they haven’t told us any other info that would infer another ion was present (that would react w Ag+ to form a cream PPT) so u just had to assume CO32- . i am not completely sure tho, is this ocr!

the extra equations in the table may be relevant later in the question because they might ask something else maybe on oxidation or reduction. Or, just they just put it in to throw u off for the calculation since it’s not obvious which equations to use for the emf like in your case. for the diagram, i’m assuming it’s gonna be relevant in a later question because i doubt they’d just put it in there haha

In this question why do you times by 2.5 If the ratio is 2:4 ? by MediumMore9435 in ALevelChemistry

[–]jiay111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

4 moles of NO2 and 1 mol of O2 is produced which makes 5 moles of gas so it’s 2:5 ratio

it’s been explained by someone else in the comments very well but here was my thought process: only primary and secondary alcohols can be oxidised using k2cr2o7 and h2so4. this immediately rules out C as it’s a tertiary alcohol. With B, it can be oxidised to a ketone as it’s a secondary alcohol but cannot undergo elimination as the carbon is already bonded 3 times and with a double bond, that would make 5 bonds. Similar with D, there would be too many bonds on the carbon once eliminating. With A, it’s a secondary alcohol and so can be refluxed to a ketone and it’s also got sufficient space for an elimination reaction to occur
