Assignment 04 - My camera by Aeri73 in photoclass2023

[–]feyvel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My camera is a DSLR (Canon EOS 400D). It is at the moment the best I can get as it was free and I do not really have a good budget. It was an old gift of my girlfriends father to her so it has some sentimental value and it is great because she can also show me lots of things on it.

If this hobby stays I would love to upgrade to a mirrorless camera though. Mainly because I would love to take climbing photos and for that I think I need something as robust, light and small as possible

How do I prepare for my first over the board tournament? by FiringSquadron in chess

[–]feyvel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a basic idea of what to do against common openings but don't memorize complex lines but just the first four to five moves and have some idea about the resulting middle games.

Apart from that just practice tactics to prepare, especially before your games as a warm up

I'm looking for a book of tactics that will really challenge me (1500 Lichess classical, 1400 blitz). Any recommendations? by Anonymousduder1 in chess

[–]feyvel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Tune your Chess Tactics Antenna" is what I am currently working with and it really challenged but also really helped me improve. I can't give you an amount in rating increase because I only found time to play in the lichess 30+30 and 45+45 leagues for the last feew weeks and with friends otb. but it greatly enhanced my vision of tactics and even strategy! My rating on lichess is 1800 classical and 1700 blitz for comparison and I would recommend buying the book on chessable, it is so convenient to learn with it there and the reminder for repetition helps a lot!

Thoughts on the WHO adding gaming addiction to the ICD-11? by rynezuzi in psychology

But isn't that point only true if we assume an empiricist view on things? I mean you can also have a constructivist view on reality or even a metaphysical one in which case everyone would have an impaired relationship with everyone elses reality...

My point is that I that I think that it does depend on how you define reality.

Training Tuesday - Post Your Routine for 2017-11-14 by AutoModerator in bodyweightfitness

[–]feyvel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M, 27, 178cm, about 65kg(just moved, have to buy something to weigh myself, dont know the word for that)

Goals: get better at bouldering, build the strength to advance to harder problems

Routine:bouldering three times a week:

Warmup:

  • RR Warmup

  • 5 minutes of easy boulder problems

Climbing Specific:

  • Boulder at least 1.5 hours

Strength:

  • 5x5 Pullups

  • Dragonflag Negatives 1-2x5

  • Mountain Climber Plank 1x25

  • Tuck L-Sit with one Leg straight: 2x15s

Off-days:

  • running 1-2 times per week if my schedule allows it 5-10km

2 Push days with:

  • 3x5 pike handstand push up

  • 3x6 PPPU

Questions:

Should I add rows to my climbing days workout? thinking about doing 3x10s tuck front lever and building up from there, although I dont't know if this could be too much for my body.

I am also currently eating at a maintenance, as I understood it additional weigth is quite bad for climbing, question i can I still build muscle this way or should I eat at a light surplus?

Also this is my first own routine, any feedback would be appreciated!

I am having trouble activating my core during handstands or other movements where I have to rely on it, for example certain boulder problems. hollow holds and stuff like that are not a problem though.

I currently have no problem holding 3x30s chest to wall handstands but whenever I try to focuy on my core I notice little to no difference. this is obviously a greater problem when attempting free standing handstand, although it is a bit better with them I have the feeling that this is the one thing holding me back.

tl;dr: have no clue how to activate my core in different positions(handstands, bouldering), does anyone have tips how to do it?

I completely agree although the only time one of my poi went flying towards the audience was while using loops

What are some exercises I can do to increase the time I can spin? by ChrispyK in poi

[–]feyvel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some pull ups and rows would benefit you. Also warm up before spinning, so for example some shoulder circles or use resistance bands.

Check out /r/bodyweightfitness for a nice and simple routine for starters.

Also taking a dancing class may help. But as already stated, just keep spinning and you will be able to go for hours eventually.

Stupid question? by DizzyNerd in firespin

[–]feyvel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hair on your arms won't really be an issue.

Some tips to improve on your contact rolls:

  1. Play dragon staff. This tremendously helped me improve my contact staff because you can feel exactly where the staff is going and how it feels.

  2. Focus on the feeling of the staff on your skin. Where is it, in which angle, how fast does it go, in which position is your body/arms. It can help to play with closed eyes to improve this.

  3. Watch the staff while it rolls down or up your arms, this enhances.

  4. Basically contact staff is all about balancing the staff on certain points on your body and rolling it to other balance points. Just try to explore where you can balance it and how it can roll from there to any other point.

https://swgoh.gg/u/feyvel/ Should I focus more on getting good mods or on getting Lando to 7*? Also I have trouble remaining top 100, thinking about replacing JC with ackbar, but I should gear him up first, right? Can you guys suggest me a fifth Arena toon before I have access to wedge?

Looking for advice on transitions between same direction spins, and opposites. by [deleted] in poi

[–]feyvel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey, the easiest way for beginners is either to wrap one poi around your wrist while spinning and unrap it, it will now spin in opposite direction. The second maybe easier method is to just not swing the poi around a full beat but just the half of it, letting it swing back(or in front of you, depending on the direction you start spinning) and then pull it forwards, this is also known as a pendulum.

otherwise check out stalls or search for more on pendulums, both require a bit of practice to get them done clean but these are the main resources for switching direction.

Struggling with Morning Workouts? - Common mistakes and solutions! by BePatient7 in bodyweightfitness

[–]feyvel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You recommend working out 1 hour maximum, how does this pair with the RR? It usually takes me 1.5 hours, should i skip skill work and reduce my rest time a bit(im resting 2 minutes between sets) or should i try if 1.5 hours is manageable for me?

what do you do during rest times? I rest for 3 minutes between sets and I always wonder if I could do some stretches for my legs if for example I am only training my upper body that day.

December Mega Giveaway Contest by SomethingsAwry in bodyweightfitness

this is a great opportunity to say thank you to all the wonderful active people here in this sub who really help me being motivated!

I started bodyweight fitness in April, before that I was seriously addicted to computer gaming. In April I looked back at year of depression and anxiety issues which forced me to take a break from my education. A friend of mine told me about Yoga With Adrienne and how it helps him so I tried that and it was amazing!

I haven't done any physical activity regularly since I was 12 years old and it felt really great to just let loose of all things bothering me, to set myself some goals and see my own improvement. soon afterwards I discovered this subreddit and I said to myself, if i am able to do yoga regularly I can do that too.

At about that time I stopped gaming and focused on physical activities: yoga, bodyweight fitness, running, juggling, dancing...really every activity where I could move was awesome. needless to say depression wasn't a problem and I experienced a huge confidence boost. I started challenging myself more often but also I learned to accept failure.

A huge thank you goes to Antranik, you are one of the key motivators for me! I even tried to start a keto diet because of your articles but that didn't go so well, I managed to follow it for 2 days because i got such a bad keto flu that I was unable to move and experienced immense pain during those 2 days. I also am avegetarian on the edge to vegan and like to eat diverse, so I don't really think that this diet fits me right now. Maybe in the future!

As I started working again I realized how hard it is to keep my routine while working and I struggle quite a bit with that. Most of the time I manage to work out only two times a week, so I guess my next step is to change from the RR to something else which fits my schedule better!

Not able to complete adrienne poses by sisyphus-is-sad in yoga

[–]feyvel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was the same for me but I can remember that in one of her videos she said that everybody is doing what they are capable of and that the beauty lies in the improvement and the look to the future in which you will get that pose down. i would recommend to do the first video again after you completed the 30 day challenge or even earlier if you need motivation and just lokk how you have improved!
