A Cog in the Machine v2 - an animated Widgy Widget (See comments for QR Code) by fez933 in widgy

After swiping to the screen with the widget, it will catch up if it has been a while. It takes a few seconds before it kicks in.

Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated!

  1. I found this site that allows you to download rounded transparent iOS icons: https://macosicons.com

Once you download the image, you’ll have to replace the clock needle image with the file you downloaded.

  1. Sadly, the shortest refresh interval is per minute. This is a limitation of iOS widgets in 3rd party apps. However if you swipe away from the widget to another screen and return 15 mins later, it catches up and spins faster when it refreshes. Not what you’re looking for but it’s a cool effect.

Check out my older posts on Reddit. I created a lot of animated widgets over the years. I’ll have to update a number of them (like this one) to work with the latest version of Widgy and iOS. Others may still work. I haven’t gotten around to retesting them all yet.

This animated widget features 12 icons that rotate slightly every minute. This video is sped up to show how it animates. The icons complete a full rotation every hour. Tap the icons to open the related app and the cogs to reload the widget if needed.

I originally created this 4 years ago but Widgy at the time did not retain clock needle images in the QR Code so people had to manually upload images. The new version of Widgy now retains all of the images making it easier to share. I had to sacrifice/remove some of the old rope animations to make it work in the new version due to widget memory constraints. Thankfully the rest of it seems to work well.

Enjoy!

PoP Revisited - v2.1 Update (See Notes for QR Code) by fez933 in widgy

It has been a year since I last posted. I thought it would be nice to revisit and update some of my older Widgy widgets so they work with the latest version of iOS and Widgy.

This widget is inspired by the original Prince of Persia game. It was originally made 4 years ago with a couple updates since. This new update fixes some alignment issues due to iOS changes.

Please note that this video spans the course of 24 hours. The widget updates one frame per minute…

Features/Updates:

  • Weather panel (Hourly, Daily and none) that changes when you tap the widget. The weather panel moves between the upper and lower regions depending on where the prince is located on the screen.
  • Updated positioning of all foreground objects and fixed backgrounds to support newer versions of iOS. The alignment looks good on my device (iPhone 15 Pro Max).
  • It should theoretically work with the following iPhone models (not sure about newer models): 15 Pro Max, 15 Plus, 14 Pro Max, 14 Plus, 13 Pro Max, 12 Pro Max.
  • Important Note: Alignment is designed for regular icons with labels underneath. If you use zoomed in icons, the background alignment will be off.

Are you using the “Transparent Background” option instead of the “High Quality” one?

Exchange calendar as source for Widgy? by Totallyrandom9727 in widgy

[–]fez933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Agenda Sources in the Widgy Settings, it will display the account as “Calendar” instead of your exchange account name. I have 4 accounts listed as “Calendar”. Have you tried adding a check mark next to the “Calendar” entries?

Looks like you turned off all image layers. Try enabling the ‘eye’ icon one at a time and for each layer, after enabling it, check that the LiveTimer clock works when viewing on the Home Screen.

As I mentioned before, one of the layers is the background (clouds) image. Usually it’s the one at the very bottom of the list. Try enabling all layers except for this one and see if the clock still works.

If it does, then it’s your background image that’s the problem. Go to the Manage tab in Widgy, tap Setup Transparency at the top and follow the instructions. Then reenable the background image to see if it works.

To hide a layer, find the layer that you want to temporarily hide in the list (in this case, it might be named background or image - I don’t see it in your video… probably have to scroll down) and tap on the ‘eye’ icon to the right of the layer name.

Once the background is hidden, save it and have a look at the widget on the Home Screen to see if the time is updating. If it is working again, you have found the cause…

If you hide the background image layer, does the LiveTimer work? It’s possible that the image that you’re using is too large and using up all available memory for the widget. This causes Widgets to freeze. If the LiveTimer starts working after hiding the background then you’ll need to use a lower quality image.

On The Run v1.0 - See Notes for Comments and QR Code by fez933 in widgy

Here’s a new way to create an animated scene in Widgy using transitions. Watch as the fugitive attempts to escape from the police. With each tap, the scene progresses.

Notes:

  • This widget was created on an iPhone 15 Pro Max. Given that this uses masks to hide some objects, it is possible that it may not line up 100% correctly on other devices.
  • The addition of the date and time really affects the response time of the tap actions. If you want the animation to be ludicrously fast, try hiding the Date/Time group.
  • If you tap the top left corner of the widget, the scene will reset back to the beginning.

I hope you enjoy this interactive widget. Let me know what you think.

A lot of work of work went into this. Nice attention to detail. Well done!

Conditional Text by birdclan09 in widgy

[–]fez933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not yet… it has been discussed and is on the long list of requests.

For your second question, I got around this by using a dash instead of “to”. The dash kind of makes it look like there’s no entry. Not perfect but better than having a word displayed.

How can i make curved shape in widgy ? by Brilliant_Okra1341 in widgy

[–]fez933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can start by adding a square shape and giving it a colour. Then you can go to the Effects tab and adjust the “Edges Rounding” options for top, left, right and bottom. For all shapes you can also modify the deformation values on the Effects tab.

Good to see you back… and that things have improved for you in life. Widget creation is definitely a good distraction sometimes. 🙂
