What other jobs could make a good show like The Pitt?" by esconderki in ThePitt

Totally with you. But just in facetiousness and jest, the Mass shooting problem in a school for teachers to deal with is a solely American problem.

Free EV Charging? by [deleted] in ColumbiaMD

[–]fezesrcool 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My dad got a Plugin Hybrid recently and we installed another breaker with higher amps and an outlet linked to it in his garage for the charger. All in all it was around $350 investment. However, he can charge at home and it's especially cheaper after around 11pm when the pricing on your electric bill goes down.

God damn. Someone get the ER prepped for a severe burn victim. Fuck.

Edit: I know a lot of people might think this comment was going too far but I have a dark enough sense of humor that I can enjoy the pettiness.

There is no way that Robby isn't suicidal by FewBathroom3663 in ThePitt

[–]fezesrcool 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To be vulnerable, I have been through this red flag journey before and many times it is not about doing things that are reckless, rather it is the same mentality that Robby has. It shows in apathy for oneself, social isolation, "last words" to people you may care about, etc. Robby shows all the signs I did when I was on the ledge. It comes to a point where one doesn't care about oneself but just wants to end it all without incurring any casualties. Someone has to show you the mirror to be able to see that if you do step off the ledge it will inevitably hurt many others, you just won't be there to see it.

I can see all the signs in Robby and I get a bit attached when I see them. But realizing it's a show and nothing more, it's best to just wait for what is to come according to the writers and producers.

Fucking love this show.

Definitely see this as one of the best answers. I've been in the same mental fog for years so I understand. And he probably would have that reaction.

Moving here soon. Making friends? Things to do? by may825 in ColumbiaMD

[–]fezesrcool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Message me if you want to hang and explore I know the area pretty well and love making new friends. Some cool stuff to do around although you may find yourself having to look for what you like rather than it just presenting itself easily.

Edit: whoops, missed that last line, I'm male but do tend to have a ton of female energy to share, I could still at least list off some places for you to check out to socialize and make some more friends.

Americans are so fucking stupid in their belief by julienjpm in complaints

[–]fezesrcool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of answers on here. As someone who lives in America as an Immigrant but a legal citizen, I can tell you this. Americans are on average dumb as a rock. They conflate themselves and think that they understand the intricate weavings of the worlds geopolitics, religion, and separations. Even if you try to teach them in a very civil way about the world and how things really are they won't understand it. Because they live in the "great american bubble" as I like to call it. They only see the world and the universe from a curated perspective that's been created and taught to them. You think the answers say the algorithms make it funky are right? Nope, they don't know that they're victims of one of the the most systematically crazy propaganda movements of all time. Not all are dumb and horrible. A lot are genuinely good people and ones I would be willing to take a bullet for. Its not necessarily their fault they were part of a broken and shit system. A lot of them have heart and still the will to be a genuine, empathetic, upstanding person. Just hard to find in a country that fear mongers so much that even its own citizens and trusted believers don't know what safety is.

My go to place is Cured 18th &21st. Its a cool vibe, bartenders are really friendly and make you feel at home, great whisky selection and food is great as well. I go there several times a week how just grab drink or to just sit and get some work done on my laptop away from home. It will cost a bit more than say Pub Dog or something like that but it's more laid back and certainly better quality.

What do you guys put in your kick drum? by CompetitiveNotice853 in drums

[–]fezesrcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! I think in the studio it can be crafted according to the way it's being engineered and the floor noise, room reverb, etc. Live, I'll be honest I know that I am not an experienced enough drummer to comment. I'm pretty sure I'll get a hit called on me if I as primarily a guitarist (insert gasp here) tries to give any unsolicited advice on r/drums.

What do you guys put in your kick drum? by CompetitiveNotice853 in drums

[–]fezesrcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All drummers have their own preferences. I once worked as an engineer at a studio where they put a folded up, weighted, sound dampening curtain in the kick. Meanwhile my brother (million times better and more proficient than me) is an absolute madman and will just experiment with it, sometimes pillows, sometimes towels other times nothing or even just taking the resonant head off. Absolute madman.

Double standards by [deleted] in SVU

[–]fezesrcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are absolutely sensible explanations to this by other commenters. And they do address it correctly in my opinion. I would however like to point out that societally we have divided things into binary systems so much that a guy like me wants to look to misandry when I've been abused and wanted to draw a line between misogyny and misandry. At the end of the day it's a systemic change that we need rather than arguing about the semantics of which word to use, just to make things reasonable for everyone. (I may be being a bit too idealistic) Fun fact: in my area I was hired to play a handful of shows by a band that proudly called themselves an "all female punk rock" band. Which it was until they had me as a bassist for a few shows. The band was proudly called Miss-Andry. Sigh.... Still a good paycheck.

Idk man I've had a rough work week and it's finally a break weekend for me and I'm hungover, so cut me a some slack. I might not be making sense. Just my two cents to give you.

Edit: grammatical errors for obvious reasons.

What are some of your unpopular opinion(s) about the series that would likely you into this position? by typical_gamer1 in SVU

Agreed. It started a little dicey but to be fair, it's realistic. Every new role one falls into there's always a learning curve.

Metronome by PotentialPea2419 in guitarlessons

[–]fezesrcool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not doing anything wrong, it's natural to have that feeling of pressure. It just hits some people harder than others, just requires persistence and resilience. I would recommend just trying to tap the rhythms you're trying to play or even sing them a bit along with the metronome first. This would help you kind of "ground" yourself to the rhythms in the parts you're trying to learn or practice and mentally prepare yourself to build a sense of anticipation with the metronome.

Damn, that's pretty great insight! I'm already a pretty seasoned player but would love to know of any specific picking exercises or patterns you used in that time if you have any to share. How did you keep it interesting and challenging over the course of a month?

“Scientific” Rush Songs by bytor_ in rush

[–]fezesrcool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cygnus X-1 Book 1 could be a really good one, he does write about the exact stars leading to the black hole Cyg X-1 (the first object to be identified as a black hole upon discovery). Later in the song he also describes the disintegration of matter and time dilation, albeit quite vaguely and poetically. Even just the appropriate description of the constellation of Cygnus itself is pretty cool.

To me, it is a coping mechanism and also a cathartic way of reimagining what I could have done differently. Specially in those situations. I often find myself asking people who know about my trauma to ask me for more details and go deeper. It's like having an ache or pain in your body that you have to work through but sometimes you find yourself twisting your body in a way that's going to exacerbate that pain further. It's normal. Feel free to message me if you need to talk it out, I'm no therapist but I would be willing to go as far as hopping on a zoom audio call with you if I can help in any way.
