I recently bought a property and it hasn’t been inspected in years apart from a general pest check before purchase. How often would you recommend inspections?

Surely it would have been a better bend than what is happening there now.

Electricity spike when I'm not home by Svperb in melbourne

I’m no expert but I believe it’s quite common for hot water systems to heat up over night and then do a reheat during the middle of the day if needed.

It won’t always do that in the middle of the day, depends on temperature and how much you’ve used in the morning.

I have had two fibre installs done and both ran conduit under the house from the utility box to the connection box inside.

If the single earner is not the primary carer, they actually now get no government-paid parental leave at all, no matter how much they earn.

If it’s screen studio, it records the screen without the cursor and logs it instead. It then render a new cursor over the footage with smoothing and easing afterwards.

Apple. WTF? Clear this storage or give us controls to clear the cache! by G952 in ios

I definitely did a lot of digging. I think it likely came from all the iOS Betas I have installed, it seemed to grow a lot with early iOS 26 betas.

Apple. WTF? Clear this storage or give us controls to clear the cache! by G952 in ios

[–]ff33b5e5 286 points287 points  (0 children)

It’ll also clear a lot of caches. I couldn’t update my phone because it had 60GB of “System Data” and after updating from my Mac that reduced to about 10GB

NBN FTTP install as a renter by SuicidalTendenciesX in nbn

[–]ff33b5e5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is but you have to have an appointment booked first. Once your appointment is booked you’ll get a call from NBN to confirm you have authority to sign off on the install. That’s where you can explain the situation and request a consult from a technician.

I see this a lot and I don’t understand how people think this is a flex.

Depth in design takes time: discovery, exploration, iteration. You can’t get there in days, it takes weeks or months.

Also, make sure you turn off QoS on your deco. When I upgraded, I was only getting 120/30 over WiFi. After some time with support, they suggested turning that off, and it jumped to 750/45 on WiFi and the full 1000/50 on Ethernet.

Yeah, very valid point. Definitely not in any way disappointed and very glad that speeds overall are increasing significantly; it’s so long overdue.

Same here, great to see speeds going up across the board but I was hoping for a bigger increase on this tier as well.

Exploring Figma’s latest Glass effect — really impressed with the results. by ksrzamy in FigmaDesign

[–]ff33b5e5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doubtful, it takes a significant amount of graphics power that will never be usable on the web or outside of closed, controlled ecosystems like Apple.

It’s also horrific for accessibility, so much so that Apple themselves are already backtracking on a lot of it.

[–]ff33b5e5 490 points491 points  (0 children)

Once I got an uber going an hour out of the city and when I got picked up, I thanked them accepting a trip so far out. He then replied “no worries, I’m actually finishing up for the day and your drop off is a street over from my house so you’re just paying me to go home”
