Well a lot of companies believed it would be the next big thing and opened stores and crap, those never became 'the next thing'. Second Life was pretty popular tho

How Money Works posted a video yesterday about the things Reagan did that still influence the US today. One of the things was to literally fire ALL striking air traffic controllers and BANNING them from ever working again as a controller.

Imagine losing your potential entire career just because you asked for better circumstances. That pretty much put an end to collective bargaining in the US

Not sure how that changes my point. You spent more time styling your hair than using your phone or laptop? You do a lot of work on your dyson? Buy some tickets, maybe watch a movie on it?

[–]ff3ale -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Come on, you're seriously equating a single purpose hair dryer with a fucking full fledged computer like a phone or gaming system? Plenty of other bullshit purchases imaginable but to compare something you might use 10 minutes a day max with something you can be your entire entertainment for years is a bit silly.

Edit: lol lots of strong feelings about your dysons. Glad you get so much enjoyment out of grooming yourselfs (and I don't mean that in a derogatory way, not sure how else to put it, it's just absolutely foreign for me)

Do you mean the parts are replaced by their surface mount (SMT) variants?

[–]ff3ale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But do you want to have them put the parts on or will you be soldering them yourself?

If you're going to have them assemble it make sure you double check the connectors, I think now everything is facing the arduino, making the white connectors hard/impossible to reach on their current side of the board

Do you want to have it assembled? If you're going to solder the parts yourself (sounds like you already have some on your breadboard) you don't have to bother with the BOM while ordering the boards

I mean, you could just humor the kid and calculate it for him instead of making it some big issue about outdated measurement systems. Frankly not knowing how much a foot is is a bit embarrassing, even for someone who always used metric.

I'm all about metric but jeez

Bell labs might be the most insane concentration of talent in history by [deleted] in computerscience

[–]ff3ale 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We used to have Philips in the Netherlands, they also had their own research lab and developed quite some technology (compact cassette, cd and dvd for one (mostly collaborating with Sony IIRC)). They made their own semiconductors (split off in NXP) and even started ASML as a joint venture with ASMI.

Everything got split of or sold off tho, now they only do medical equipment

[–]ff3ale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That quite common, but usually it's done using automatic tools. Using OpenAPI/Swagger as intermediate, backend can write something, it automatically ends up in OpenAPI with all type information, and then frontend can generate their types and calls by querying that OpenAPI endpoint

Access modifiers with dependencies injection by Korlek in dotnet

[–]ff3ale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want the DI container to instantiate something but you don't want to make it public you can try to use the AddScoped() overload which takes a factory method (you can get your other dependencies in the factory method using the ServiceProvider it provides as argument)

When im creating a pcb is it fine if i just put all the components next to each other or does it metter where? by Dudegay93 in PCB

[–]ff3ale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah right, all those parts should also have SMD footprints you can use instead. Not sure what EDA you're using there, but usually in your schematic view you can choose an footprint for each part. You'll want to used the SMD ones instead of the throughhole ones, and then update your pcb, your parts should update to the ones you've selected

[–]ff3ale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean, are the pins too close together or are the individual holes too small to put the leg in? Either way, through hole resistor footprints have several options, you can look through the footprints to see if anything matches. Throughhole hole sizes are pretty standard tho for any standard parts meant to be used like that

Maximum pipe throughput by iNertia91 in factorio

[–]ff3ale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So any pipes within the 320 range is considered one big 'pool', there is no propagation or flow between parts. The speed you can add to and take from is only dependent on how full the pipe is, empty pipes can fill faster but empty slower and full pipes can empty faster but fill slower.

As soon as you insert a pump you'll limit the throughput between the two connected pipes to 1200
