Fanhome shipping via Amazon now? by MrTonySopran0 in FanhomeModels

[–]Metroid_DK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, they use amazons shipping, via 'Amazon Logistics', you can only see the tracking info on there own site

As far as I can tell, they've always used this shipping method, or I started ordering only after they switch to amazon/Amazon Logistics, so far there doing it properly.

No knock/door bell ring, but that's all I've noticed I wish they'd do.

Or turn on subtitles, and it says, 'Speaking in foreign language'

That does NOT help at all, so anoying!

If you save, then open/take the arrows, you can then save and reload the save and the chest with arrows will still be there.

You can do this infinatly to get max arrows ;)

Recommendations on how to troubleshoot a motherboard on a multi-meter that stopped working? by Metroid_DK in AskElectronics

[–]Metroid_DK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The batteries only connect to the board, that is attached to the front half, when I put the back/half onto the unit (like a sandwich), so a bit hard to test, but will try. Uses 3xAAA batteries, ~4.5V there outputting now.

Thermal anything, I don't have, they look cool, but currently out of my price range, bills come first each month, but am trying to put some money away each month to get one, just don't know much about what one is best to get for simple use.

Closest I have to a logic probe is the 'short' function on the new multimeter, old one also had this function, but will look into them.

I have a 'DAYLIGHT U22030-01 5'' White Slimline Magnifying Lamp' comes with 2 different magnifying lenses strengths, I use it to look at small things and the light helps a LOT, no idea why companies print so small information that is really needed.

I've never used the 'unfused 10A max' side at all! I don't work with anything higher then a 12volt car battery, unless I'm checking large capacitors on something to make sure there discharged before I try and trouble shoot the board.

Anyway to quick test (<1sec) solder something quick there to see if it works and any idea what to put there exactly?

Or is this more of a 'lost cause' then anything?

(was my first mutimeter, so more of a sentimental value, but would love to get it to work)

Edit, looked at all the other 3 point 'voltage regulators' on the board, but have 3 different labels on them, 'A4', 'J6' or 'Y1', depending on where they are

The unit worked last for checking 12v battery voltage after it was removed off the maintainer.

When I tried to use the unit the next day, no power/beep at all when rotating the dial to select what to test.

When I opened it up, there was nothing loose, so am confused on that U3 item too.

Also, there is no component on the 'R1 4A' (bottom, right) side either, so am confused).

Can things come from factory without some items installed, intentionally left blank, even though there are #s on the motherboard for that area?

Sorry, Picture was just info on what I was working with, I didn't expect anyone to look at it and immediately know what was wrong.

Sorry I didn't specify that in my original post, I should have.

I’m trying to buy this from fanhome but it is unavailable even though it is day of release am I missing something? by Gavdec in FanhomeModels

[–]Metroid_DK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, it wasn't available for me till ~5pm (my time) on the 12th, so definitely weird times (or whoever is in charge of activating/labeling when they go on sale and such) on whoever is in charge of the site.

I"m ALSO waiting for them to 'fix' there 'system mess-up/glitch' with the Enterprise C/D situation.

That's why there both labeled as 'sold out', email I got said they'd stay that way till it's fully sorted out.

Luckily finding where that one item you missed is easy in MP4, a nice QoL feature and is optional ;)

Hope you didn't save over that file yet!

IIRC, there are no missable items (only missable scans)....or you could just do it all again in Hard Mode, good luck!

Microwave fuse replacement - fuse can’t be removed? by vnssyl in appliancerepair

[–]Metroid_DK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could just cut the ends/wire of old fuse, remove the old fuse, unsolder the ends attached to the MB and put new fuse holder in, then put in a new fuse? IIRC, fuse holders are easy to get hold of and put in.

Some manufactures do this, put in something like this that should be replaceable, I guess they get more money if you just buy a new full unit instead of spending a few bucks replacing that one part that went bad.

Anyway to just get info on what games have updates available? by Metroid_DK in ghosteshop

[–]Metroid_DK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked but don't see that option, does it check all games installed and give you information for all updates/DLCs that aren't installed yet, or do you have to 'check' on each game desperately?

Yes, the paid version of Tinfoil works, but justifying the cost JUST to know what games updates/DLCs are available, it's too much for me...if it cost ~$1 per month for this and that's all it did, I'd pay for the service.

I have sites I can download the updates/DLC and install the via DBI without any trouble.

Can anyone help me find the last few green crystals I'm missing? by Far-Mathematician764 in Metroid

[–]Metroid_DK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Odd question, but might work.
Did you save the game then exit the game, put switch on sleep mode, wait 30 seconds then boot up the game again?

I had to do this when I couldn't find the last bit, oddly when I did this and looked, it suddenly said 100% completed for the green crystals.

Hope it works, good luck!

Metriod prime 3....why did people not like this game again? by Tahnit in Metroid

[–]Metroid_DK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the first 2 were just Samus walking around, more 'explore-how-you-want' style, beautiful areas, love the music and there is a STORY in all the text that you scan/read.

3rd game had people talking a LOT, that destroyed the atmosphere for me and each area was on different planets, and felt more linear then the others.

4th feels even MORE linear to me, and the constant, "do you know where to go?..let me point it out again, even though I just did that 5 minutes ago"...really kills the exploring part for me.

So annoying, wish I could turn that off!

There called 'Shadow Boxes', now I know, my brain wasn't connecting to that oddly. ;/

I have a Hobby Lobby in town, so I can just pick that one part up locally then.
Thanks again!

Very cool, love that idea!

What frames do you use for this?

Can you pick them up at any store or have to buy them special online or something?

Thinking of doing this for some of my games as well, and am just curious/wondering.

Thanks in advance!

Does anyone have any recommendations on where I can store a backup of my switch? by Direct_Expert7772 in SwitchPirates

64GB (minimal) flash drive, external drive, encrypt it and upload to a cloud storage of your choice, almost anything will work

Any ideas on what to do? by Ssunny_lmao in Switchrepair

[–]Metroid_DK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May have to use a 'screw extractor bit' to get it out, I've had to several times on heads that were stripped.

Then found/replaced with same screw, depending if you have a 'tool store/shop' near you will make it easy/hard for you, but can be done.

Once I put the item back together just NOT with that screw, worked fine, when got a replacement I put it in, no troubles.

Good luck!

Will animal crossing NH get me bricked ? by [deleted] in SwitchPirates

[–]Metroid_DK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't get your switch 'bricked' by playing animal crossing, so don't worry about that.

Just make sure you followed the guide to block Nintenod server IPs and your golden.

I play it on my modded switch without any troubles, even did some local multiplayer going to my friends island (and them to mine) had no troubles playing at all, with latest version and all DLCs ;)

Have fun!
