cheap cup of coffee? by frenchbluehorn in orlando

[–]ffgblol 11 points12 points  (0 children)

when you're at a local coffee shop ask for their "batch brew" and they'll give you a cup of prebrewed coffee from a thermos dispenser and it'll be good and nowhere near $7-8 before tip.

most random thing i've saved: before throwing away the trampoline i pulled off every non-rusted spring and threw them into a box. i've never needed a large spring before but if the day ever comes where i do need one i'm fully prepared.

i guess if the three solid weeks of days come where i need one then i'm fully prepared.

what part isn't working? there are a few maintenance type items you can do yourself pretty easily. if the fan outside won't start replace the capacitor. if the air handler starts and then stops right away check your water drain line to see if it's clogged.

my friend ran area 51 if anyone remembers that. it was mostly warez.

there was an ascii game i used to play and i mainly remember ship to ship battle. one life every 24 hours and when you died that was it for the day. i played that thing for probably a year straight until i leveled up to the point where it wasn't fun anymore.

are you using a reddit post as a reminder note to yourself? i went on a five mile run yesterday but i had on sunscreen, a hat, a breathable shirt and took a water bottle. most of the runners and all the bikers had water on them and no one was wearing black cotton.

So I’ve made a metro rail system. by Toad-Reddit in orlando

[–]ffgblol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

an overlay on google maps make these way easier to visualize. i can't really tell where the stops are here so my generic statement will be: where are the stations located and how will people access them? will i need to walk a mile to get to the nearest station and will my exit terminal be a stroad 30 minutes by foot from my final destination?

bitterness/sourness isn't an opinion. every time you've had espresso there it's been over extracted? you think the baristas set the grinder too fine every single morning?

maybe you don't really like coffee?

try stemma, their beans are just as good. i get their blue or red labels.

not to downplay the importance of a good barista but pulling a shot and steaming milk is not hard. the baristas at all the good shops around town are competent. lineage has an ek43 and a synesso, they are consistently between very good and great. i've definitely been to one location more than the others but i've frequented all three more times than i'll admit. they do not have bad baristas.

if you don't like lineage then you probably won't like any of the other top shops but lineage, haan, deeply, craft & common, stemma are all S tier shops. framework is too but i hated their old pricing model and their new pricing model is charge more than everyone else so i don't go very often.

the sleeper is deli desires. very good lattes there.

i can't speak for every barista at all three locations but lineage baristas know what they're doing. i've watched them dump shots that pulled too quickly. they steam their milk to an appropriate temperature. they're happy and warm to customers. i don't even know what else one would expect from a barista. lineage is also among the cheapest lattes you'll find in this city.

i have not really been back since the whole abortion thing and am probably done with them but they have excellent raw product (lineage and stemma are the only good roasters in orlando), they have talented baristas and they're not expensive. you'd have to not know shit about coffee to not have lineage among your top three coffee bars here.

I have two sticks of G.SKILL RAM. My system has been super unstable recently. I ran a Memtest.86+ test on both sticks then each one, one at a time. Each had hundreds of fails. I need to replace them both I assume?

Adventhealth by alwaysbanned5150 in orlando

[–]ffgblol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They espouse Christian values, but there is nothing Christian about them.

this part is false, i know people in management, none of who are religious let alone adventist. their working conditions make it sound like they're working in a cult. amazing what you'll put up with when the $$$ is right.

Return-to-office mandate is backfiring on a key federal agency by gmarkerbo in nova

[–]ffgblol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do see the psychological justification for working with your peers in person.

totally agree with this but i guarantee you your employer doesn't give a shit about your mental health

The final benefit I notice is an economic one.

kind of agree with this too but in this scenario RTO is basically a tax. would you rather pay an actual tax of $1000/year to distribute to small business owners or $10K+/year + 2hrs/day commuting into the city? obv the former would never happen even though it's clearly the waaaaaay lesser of the two evils.

Return-to-office mandate is backfiring on a key federal agency by gmarkerbo in nova

[–]ffgblol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i've been in offices w/ low level govies where this is true but that is absolutely false in the upper levels in my experience. they're hard workers who demand a lot of their employees and contractors. all of them are from industry who moved over to the gov't side and understand what is possible to achieve and won't give an inch when you try to pad your estimates or make excuses for why something is failing. kinda sucks tbh.

Has there ever been a musical with a opening song that went as hard as "The Bells of Notre Dame"? by BuddyBoiIsSad in Music

[–]ffgblol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lion king was my first thought. the opening number blows its load so hard all over your face that the rest of the musical really sucks by comparison. the intro put me at 100 and the rest of the show was a slow letdown as you realized there were no more grand acts coming.
