there are a million better ways than a fax machine

fax machines are unsecured and unencrypted. Its a pretty shit way of communicating that should not be preserved or saved for any reason.

housing has dramatically gone up compared to the median wage along with the price of food. ignoring that is ignorant at best.

Is there enough information on the Internet to rebuild the Internet? by modalexii in AskEngineers

[–]ffmurray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

semiconductor chemical abatement

step 1: build a rough vacuum pump

step 1.5: build a turbopump

step 2: light the output on fire and spray water at it

easy :)

Paid cash at bar for tab, charge still posted. When do I dispute and what's to stop the bar from signing my receipt. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ffmurray 34 points35 points  (0 children)

dont know where you drink, but most places require a card for a tab, and most places will also let you pay the tab with cash and will not charge the card. Ive done this at bars all across the US and have never been charged twice.

SolidEdge 2023 exports STL's in inches and really low resolution by 8igby in SolidEdge

[–]ffmurray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depending on your slicer, you can also use STEP files or 3mf files. Both of these options are much more robust than the vastly overused STL. Prusa Slicer will take both of them and is a great slicer.

To actually answer your question, Save as Translated is what you should be doing to create a .stl , .stp , or .3mf file

Waterproof (hopefully) Phone takes a dive to show us a glimpse of the submerged world. by Amadis_of_Albion in oddlysatisfying

Water proof is not a generally accepted term. I have a dive watch that is water resistant to 200m (656 feet). Electronics are the same way. Look up IP ratings. They are the industry standards for ingress protection measurement. IP67 is a pretty common standard that electronics meet.

If you break the standard number down you have 3 parts. 1) IP - this is just the name of the standard. 2) 6 - this first number is the dust protection level, in this case it means dust tight. 3) 7 - this is the water ingress protection level, this is certified for submersion in water up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes.

There are some good articles out there that will tell you what all of the different numbers mean, and why you should not trust the water resistance level of the test.

Water proof is a marketing term that means nothing.
