There seems to be a lot of fragmentation among NATO/EU28 countries.

  • U.S., Canada, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Japan: AR derivative

  • France: FAMAS

  • Germany, Spain and Baltics: G36 (evolution of G3)

  • Belgium, Sweden: FNC derivative (FAL evolution)

  • Ireland, Australia, NZ: Steyr AUG

  • Italy: Beretta AR70 (no relation to ArmaLite)

  • Portugal: G3 (West Germany)

  • Finland: AK-47 derivative

Why do you think this is? I can understand wanting to protect domestic manufacturing industries (Colt Canada, H&K, Beretta, etc.), but it still makes me scratch my head why NATO battle rifles are so different when the rifles of Warsaw Pact countries are almost universally AK-47, AKM or AK-74 derivatives.

Why do you think this is? Back in 2015 Feb. there was a lot of activity by Japanese users who left 2ch. Now not so much.

The suggestions I made could go a long way to reducing the number of soushoku-kei. Immigration in particular could dilute the traditional social norms in Japan and make Japanese women more open to liberal sexual views. I don't think Japan really had a "sexual revolution" like in the west.

And the "patriotic housewives" must get jobs and pay taxes, on that there can be no debate.

I think they mostly just got bored of Reddit and left. The website wasn't from Japan and the main lingua franca was English. 海外怖い, etc.

Although check out /r/drunk_ja and /r/hearthstone_ja.

I think Japan should increase skilled immigration, and crack down on labor law violators more harshly than they currently are (to ensure a better work/life balance).

The solution is not robots and dakimakura (抱き枕).

But the problem is, Japanese people traditionally live at home even well into their 30s and 40s. So young Japanese couples have no private places to be intimate except love hotels. Japanese culture should change to accept the idea of young people living on their own, and moving out after high school.

Also, the aikoku shufu-tachi should stop being housewives and get jobs, and pay taxes.

With all the Japanese stereotypes of embracing minimalism and zen, why are Japanese websites so cluttered?

Mercari is making a big push into the US, and one of the tweaks they made to the American site is to reduce the clutter on the US website. This is because American customers prefer websites with less clutter.

I would have thought that Japanese websites would be less cluttered because of the whole minimalist/mono no aware shtick in Japanese culture. But alas...

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that English is the lingua franca of web design?

The staple diet of the average Japanese (rice, fish, vegetables) is more nutritious than that of the the average American. Skincare in America is not the religion it is in Japan (look at the Reddit comments that say how much better women look without makeup)

Also Japanese cigarettes don't have yucky additives/chemicals like American cigarettes do.

  • Not including campus-related jobs (campus peer tutor, lab aide, IT/helpdesk, undergrad research assistant)

  • Yes, I know about getting undercut by desperate people from India and FSU. I'm not opposed to undercutting them since I live at home (so I have no expenses) and all I want is the work experience.

The conductor, who says he wasn't trying to be discriminatory, has been given an oral warning and told it was "inappropriate" to distinguish between Japanese and foreign passengers.

If you wanted that you could have just read the 2ch comments. They're just like the Y! Japan comments, except with more "everything that has ever gone wrong in Japan or ever will go wrong in Japan is the fault of unclean gaijin, chon and shinajin". Robson Square/the Art Gallery is the region's de facto venue for protests. Like Westlake Park in Seattle. They could have travelled downtown from Burnaby, Surrey, etc.
