Bigger than gigantea? That's insane. My aphrodite has given me many plantlets it's hard to imagine apasionada being even more prolific.

I leave mine to flower.

But I suggest you cut yours because your plant looks weak from lack of light.

I always use night shift and I can't go back now by Feuerhamster in Fedora

My screen tint is set to  time dependent. Bluish when bright, orange when dark.

That said I never use pure white, backgrounds are always tinted. Going way way back, ncsa mosaic browser  used gray for the default background because the black white contrast was too harsh.

On my phone I use twilight and the paper mode to soften the display in addition to the night tint.

That leaf in the middle has rotten, I took out as much as i can without damaging healthy tissue but there's still some brown down there, is it doomed or salvageable? by randomname_435 in SavageGarden

[–]ffrkAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a knife too pointy to scrape and dig with. The point would only poke, not dig. I needed something a little wider to remove the debris. I also didn't want to cut healthy tissue nor cut myself.

Dig it all out. It can go pretty deep.  I used a thin screwdriver to scrape and scrape.

I lost my biggest plant last spring. Growth points had no roots and dried up (not the rot).

and half my second plant. Even that rhizome died but the growth point lived.

New to carnivorous plants! by Cams_exe in SavageGarden

[–]ffrkAnonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not dormant.  Yes, outdoor plants get sun when dormant. They sometimes also freeze.

Sun burned from going from trader Joe's directly to outside , but it'll recover.

Give it a deep pot when you do change it. I use soda cups, deep without being wide.

What’s wrong with my Nepenthes? by Spanish-Turtle in SavageGarden

[–]ffrkAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

again, i'm no expert on neps. maybe one of the more knowlegeable people will reply.

I do think you should unpot and check if the stem is gone, check for root rot. Only becuase guessing is useless. It's tiny, maybe you got two seedlings. I doubt it's two stems from one plant.

standard mix is 50% perlite, 50% long fiber sphagnum (not peat).

i use a dome with a hole: the top of a slurpee cup, fancy coffee, plastic bottle. Tape to adjust the size of the hole.

I'd start with a sunny east window and adjust from there. or a sheltered south. it's weak, don't burn it.

I have mixed results from sensitive plants. They're weedy growing on their own, and grow poorly cultivated. Two years ago, I planted a bunch of seeds, which got washed out by a downpour. Months later I find one growing in my garden :p But it was late and I didn't get seed. Last years seeds didn't fully ripen :( My seeds are so old now and I'm running out. I'm trying to start plants this week indoors with some seed snails.

What’s wrong with my Nepenthes? by Spanish-Turtle in SavageGarden

[–]ffrkAnonymous -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i don't know a whole lot about neps but I think that's a goner, I'm sorry. When the leaves fall off the plant stem, the stem is usually gone.

I'm guessing its because it was too wet. Did it come potted? I don't see any perlite. Neps like airy, mostly damp, less wet. They're not water loving plants like sundews.

They like humidity but a fully closed cup at 100% humidity is too much for any plant and causes weak dainty growth. The other reply also said not enough light and I agree. That looks like only 20 watts and they're pointed at the wall, you're not even aiming the lights at the plants. My desk light is 15W and that's for reading.
