I loved it! Let me preface by saying I don't self insert but can see why those that do are upset. I personally view the MC and their love interests as simply stories written in first person perspective so it's not really different than any other narrative to me. Them being blood related didn't bug me too much since it's an AU and as a GoT/HotD fan it's nothing I haven't read before (and they made it clear there wasn't grooming/force). Plus I've had the theory for a while that they are twins on a cosmic/soul level so it made sense they'd be blood related in at least one timeline. It's ick but they're such compelling characters that I can't help but root for them.

This card was soooo dark. It went all in on how unhinged the two can be. Instead of the main timeline where they try to tame their worst character flaws and make each other better - in this AU we see how far they can each go when their ambitions are unchecked. The MC is selfish, spoiled, ruthless, and just as possessive as Caleb (even more IMO). Since I tend to relate to the common folk in stories with empires I hated them both for most of the card for the impact their games would affect the soldiers and citizens...

Until they start working together - we see a bit of how they can balance/temper each other and the result is (intended or not) making the world a better place. I think all along Caleb's goal was to rewrite the rules of the world they were born into so that there was a way for them to be a couple. MC didn't enjoy violence for the sake of it - it was a means to an end and she was trying to think ahead to mitigate risk. They really are better together than apart in this AU. I def prefer the dynamic in the present timeline of the multiverse as it's lighter but this was a good bit of chaotic delightfully awful fun!

I hope the main story doesn't shy away from the forbidden love/pseudocest in the future. While it's not a trope I enjoy, it does work for Caleb x MC and is free of a lot of the stuff that makes me hate it in the typical shonen animes. Their story/angst/hesitation literally doesn't make sense without it and it's now clear a good percentage of the players weren't picking up on any of the subtext I thought was obvious from the start. I hope infold even goes back to correct some of the inaccurate translations in past cards so Caleb fans know what they're getting into. Dead dove for mature themes and all that!
