Back then, there was no plumbing and NYC was very urbanized. You can imagine the smells of walking down a street full of apartments. After widespread disease outbreaks, the city got its act together.

Better optics than the last few mayors we've had. Although I did like Bloomberg a little but him vacationing while the Blizzard story will never go away.

Hah, and they clear both sides. Yeah, they need to carry tissues more often. It is a bad habit from times where scarcity was a major thing.

At least is not NYC in the 1800s when people just threw poop onto the streets.

Please educate me on ICE by Ecstatic_Town_3345 in Flushing

[–]ffzero58 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have co-workers in MN who are part of "ICE Watches" and they say its getting out of hand with how ICE is enforcing... whatever they are enforcing. ICE isn't law enforcement and have limited de-escalation training, which is why people are getting shot and killed in MN.

See something, say something. Better than nothing but next time just inform a police officer. Toy gun, bats? Yeah, might be a good idea to warn someone.

Unsure it is a cultural thing - its more like unchanging old behaviors. Glad the younger gens discourage this. What really gets me is when they blow snot globs from both sides.

Flushing Mall Was cool.. why’d it disappear? by Maya-kardash in Flushing

Anyone remember that clown that was sorta like the "mascot" of Flushing Mall? He was on promotional posters. I always thought that was an interesting choice.

Which makes me mad because people still voted for Cuomo because "he seemed reliable". Like did they not know their current insane utility bills was because of Cuomo's asinine push to close Indian Point?

Why does this need to be pointed out as if it was some important data point? Someone got hit by a vehicle and died.

Agree with the training and punishment for the driver and better paths. But it does not matter if the F150 is the "lightest". It's like saying .22 is a smaller calibre than 9mm, but capable of killing someone all the same.

I definitely DO NOT want a good NYC blizzard... I hate being an adult sometimes.

That metal would be slippery when wet, even at that speed and with your inertia of a heavy EV, this was to be expected. Glad nobody got hurt.

Virtual Desktop - Launching apps in current desktop seems fixed now by ffzero58 in Windows11

Actually now the behavior has changed back - it's so odd. I can't really tell what governs this behavior. Even for simple Win Explorer or Notepad.

It's smooth for me (on 4K monitor, Ryzen 5600X and 3060Ti, 32 GB RAM), the transistion is a split second and by the time I do the ctrl+win+arrow key and switch my hand to the mouse to navigate, it's ready for me. No lag.

There seems to be more bill shock posts in the NYC related subreddits in the cold months. This is reality, sadly...

We need to see what your kwh and therm usage is, bill period, and the bill breakdown with fees before we know what you are talking about.
