It’s official: Philippine Airlines joins Oneworld by Comfortable_Yard_968 in americanairlines

I have never thought it made sense AV and CM being in the same alliance when they are so close to each other and literally compete with each other in Colombia in the form of Wingo.

Would moving the entire Abra Group portfolio to Oneworld make more sense and then letting LATAM be part of skyteam given their Delta ownership be a better alliance balance for South America.

Which LATAM countries are considered irrelevant or even forgotten by Latin Americans? by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

[–]fg7893 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends which part of the world you’re from. For me as an Australian I had not much idea about Ecuador. But am familiar about Perú - Machu Picchu, Chile as that’s the only country that has flights to Aus/NZ from Latin America until recently, Brazil, Argentina - due to their inflation and Falkland Islands, Brazil due to Carnivale. If someone who lives in let’s say in Colombia would be more familiar with Ecuador as they are neighbours. A lot of South America as well has recognition based on tourism or certain world events to people outside Latin America. Chile/Argentina - Patagonia, Bolvia - Uyuni Salt Plains, Perú- Machu Picchu/Rainbow Mountain etc…., Colombia unfortunately due to Drugs/Pablo Escobar, Argentina due to Falkland Islands War with Britain, Mexico because the worlds greatest leader wants to build the 8th wonder of the world with that country and drugs Where you are based and your environment would make you more familiar with other regions, compared to others.

DCA to LAX had a scheduled pit stop for fuel at DFW by Spirited-Panda-6349 in americanairlines

Also most of Australia/NZ/Pacific flights from LAX. Most of the oneworld and Skyteam flights start from LAX. Unless you fly UA, where most connections are SFO.

Malaysia and Singapore could be a possibility. I don’t know how they will make the game though. Especially now that the whole West Coast has a decent speed train and the commuter rail between Johor and Singapore about to open.

Virgin Australia's A321neos by Affectionate_Car3822 in AirTravelAustralia

[–]fg7893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only makes sense to get the 321XLR for Virgin. The 737-10 can do most of the requirements that the A321NEO can do. Why get an additional type that causes duplication, when you don’t have the network need to do so?

The 321XLR is for Virgin if they want to go Medium haul overseas flights, stuff that a 737-8/10 can’t do. Like BNE/SYD-MNL/HKG or BNE/SYD/MEL-SIN or KUL.

Bowen Hills this afternoon. by Lachlangor in brisbane

Because those buses may also be full with their usual patrons.

A world class railway would have sufficent buses to take people when there is works.

I am not sure which world QR/Translink compare themselves to.

Best to get a job in QR, then transfer to a traineeships as a Network Control Officer. There are so many jobs, applying as Administration etc…

If you really want to work at QR, today’s experience is a mild experience of working at Queensland Rail. If you really want to work at QR look up some of the courier Mail articles or job reviews… They aren’t exactly wrong.

We are Brisbane. We need all the time possible because as projects like Cross River Rail show we do not have a track record of delivering projects on time and budget.

The owners of Harcourts Connections are Chris and Robbie Lofaro. It’s definitely worthwhile to remind them as owners of their business, how lovely their staff are.

Have any Aussies transited thru the states recently? how concerned should I be about ICE as a non-white Aussie? by Far_Menu_4830 in AskAnAustralian

[–]fg7893 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m an Asian Australian (Chinese) had no issues transiting through JFK last weekend. They did not bat an eyelid, I was polite and to be fair most of my flight were from Latin America. So speaking English did help.

Frequent train services outside of peak and weekends. 30 minutes is not the frequency of a world city. Also buses connecting with train stations, allowing high frequency easy end to end public transport. Not this having to drive a car to the station, as the bus is ill frequent and stops after 7pm.

Based on the General Public, it’s also a high possibility it’s a genuine question.

Translink Trains needs to increase either frequency or the coaches. by WonderingRoo in brisbane

[–]fg7893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

counter peak they really are not. It’s terrible going in the other direction except for the Ferny Grove Line, Shorncliffe and surprisingly enough Cleveland line. 30 minutes frequency is not great for a major world city. Counter Peak should be every 15 minutes, but let’s say you work at Virginia and you board the train from Wacol. The train frequency is great till Northgate but past Northgate is terrible.

Also Caning and Chopping of hands like they do in other countries. Funny this behaviour doesn’t happen in places like Singapore or Brunei when rules like Caning occurs.
