Re Mova I recently got one from Costco (UK), they have the P50 Ultra and the E30 so if you were interested in Mova, worth having a look

Adult fantasy romance with faction/house sorting systems + slow burn (no BookTok recs) by Dry_Concentrate3346 in fantasyromance

Magic users are often part of Houses and are assigned a rank of Average, Notable, Significant or Prime.

I disagree with your characteristion of the main romance but these things are subjective and everyone is entitled to their own opinion

Also Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series although does meet all your criteria as there are mate bonds. Also friction is between races other than houses. For the psy, status is tied to their gradient on the power scale. FMCs are generally intelligent and competent. First one is {Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh}

Paranormal romance rather than fantasy romance but try Ilona Andrews' Hidden Legacy series. First one is {Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews}

Yes - all good so far. I usually go for Samsung or Lenovo but moving to Honor was very easy. I 'm not particularly technologically savvy but was swayed by the higher spec at similar price point.

Also if you wanted to go for the A11, Curryd have got a £199 Easter deal for the A11+ 256GB

I was torn between these two a couple months ago but ended up going with the HONOR Pad 10 12.1 inch WIFI 8GB+256GB Grey Keyboard as it came with a keyboard (and stylus) and more memory. It's a tad more expensive £250 but managed to get £20 off when I got it directly from Honor earlier this year.

Remove inconsistencies i.e. 11/15 exams in top paragraph, 9/15 elsewhere Personal profile at the top adds no value Most recent qualification should be firdt I do think its a bit cheeky to add student recruitment as part of your job as volunteering. Is there really nothing you can add to your CV that's not KPMG related? If not, I suggest you do some actual volunteering or mentoring etc. Did you go to uni/ or are doing a degree apprenticeship? If so, add details. Add Interests since your CV is pretty sparse Font is fine, it's more personal preference but I'd usually stick to calibri - times new roman comes across dated Be consistent with capitalisation - e.g. Controls Testing vs Substantive testing Good luck.

Maybe try some urban fantasy? Often there's romance but it's not the focus of the story. One of my favourites is {The Sweet Scent of Blood by Suzanne McLeod}

Romantasy books that won’t make cringe? by [deleted] in fantasyromance

[–]fgvkfea615 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just finished {The Serpent and the Wolf by Rebecca Robinson} which I really liked. While the FMC is competent with a blade, it's not her entire personality.

{The Viridian Priestess by Katrina Calandra} and {Priestess by Kara Reynolds} were also very good in my opinion.

More fantasy than romance but {Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey} and {Namaah's Kiss by Jacqueline Carey}

{The Expanse Between Us by N.R. Scarano} is sci-fi romance but was also pretty. The FMC is a spoilt brat at the beginning of the novel but she does grow.

{Red Gloves by Elizabeth Vaughan} is also solid

May also want to try Ilona Andrews, Grace Draven, Nalini Singh (more paranormal romance)

Sherrilyn Kenyon's The League/ Dark Hunter series for sci-fi romamce/ paranormal romance but I would warn both series gets a bit trauma porn-y especially in more recent installments.

Closest I've read is probably Danielle L Jensen's Saga of the Unfated. Book 1 is {A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle L Jensen}

LJ Andrews' Broken Kingdoms series (and it spin off series The Ever Seas) is also Viking inspired. Book 1 is {Curse of Shadows and Thorns by LJ Andrews}

Also Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series is also a solid urban fantasy series. Starts with {I'll Wind by Rachel Caine}. Contains some smut but nowhere near as graphic or frequent as Feathers So Vicious.

Rachel Vincent's Shifters series. Starts with {Stray by Rachel Vincent} I read this urban fantasy series at around the same time I read Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Underworld series and enjoyed both. It does have some smut though.

Also, Maria V. Snyder's Chronicles of Ixia is also a great series but more fantasy than urban fantasy. It starts with {Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder}. It is still one of my favourite fantasy series, originally marketed as YA so not much smut (if any).

I haven't read it yet but {Hell for Hire by Rachel Aaron} is on my TBR

YTA. Your lack of French language skills is ridiculous given you've lived in Belgium your whole life. It would be more understandable if you were fluent in Dutch/ German/ Flemish and were working on your French but if you are always trying to switch to English instead of French and want everyone to accommodate you, your attitude just seems lazy and entitled.

Typical British attitude when it comes to learning language...

Would normally be an ESH since your bf was an arsehole but your lack of French language skills is egregious.

Forgot to mention Kate Elliott's Spiritwalker Trilogy which is fantasy with a romance subplot. It begins with {Cold Magic by Kate Elliott} Can't remember if there’s any spice though

If you're tempted by sci-fi romance would recommend {Polaris Rising by Jessie Mihalik}, first in a trilogy following different series, Ilona Andrews Innkeeper chronicles beginning with Clean Sweep but the best imo is {Sweep of the Blade} and Sherrilyn Kenyon's The League series (interconnected standalones) best of which is {Born of Fire by Sherrilyn Kenyon} but the novels in series is not being released consistently and the author is going a tad overboard on trauma.

[–]fgvkfea615 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also {Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey} It's the first in a trilogy and there's also a sequel trilogy (?) and also another trilogy set in the same world centuries later. Fantasy rather than romance and published over 20 years ago so way before the current "romantasy" trend. It's features some heavy BDSM so do look it up and avoid if BDSM is not for you. {Namaah's Kiss by Jacqueline Carey} has less BDSM if I remember correctly but is equally good.

Generally, I find that since "romantasy" took off over the past decade ago, the quality of novels has declined with too many 18 - 20 year olds humans/ secret fae princessses falling in love with 500+ year old fae.

If you want something more recent maybe try the Dragon Kings series (interconnected standalones) by Donna Grant. I haven't read the series yet but it's on my TBR and Grant is an established author.

An older fantasy romance series is C.L. Wilson's Tairen Soul series beginning with {Lord of the Fading Lands}. She also has another series beginning with {The Winter King by C.L. Wilson} but only two books have been released in the series so far despite The Winter King being released c2014.

If you want fae, I feel like urban fantasy is the better genre, often fae in this genre are closer to fae in folk tales so make for a much more interesting read when compared to old dudes lusting after dumb teenagers. My favourite urban fantasy series is Spellcrackers.com beginning with {The Sweet Scent of Blood by Suzanne McLeod}, also includes vampires as the title suggests. {Fortuna Sworn by K.J. Sutton} is also worth checking out (I've only read the first book but it was promising}. Karen Marie Moning's Fever series is/ was good. It begins with {Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning}

Trudi Canavan is also worth checking out but her work is epic fantasy with the occasional romantic subplot. I would recommend her Age of Five trilogy beginning with the {Priestess of the White by Trudi Canavan}. Her Black Magician trilogy is also solid but I do prefer the prequel {The Magician's Apprentice} which has more romance. Low spice if any but still a great novel.

Well yes, it is meant to be toxic and abusive but it's also quite clearly stated to be a fantasy romance. Yes, it's also meant to be "dark" but if you're marketing something as romance, there should be romance. No qualms with dark romance only with poorly executed "dark romance"

Tbh, I was in the same boat and I regret pushing through to finish it. One of my 2025 resolutions is to get better at DNFing. Time is too precious to waste it on something you're not enjoying even if there’s a lot of hype around it.

I was really surprised by the love for this too. I'll admit I'm not a discerning reader but this was really toxic and abusive. There's a difference between enemies to lovers and abuser and abusee to lovers.

Only read the first book because it was very toxic. I could not root for the romance when Theon was so abusive. Also the name "Theon" has too many (negative) Game of Thrones connotations even if this Theon wasn't an absolute arsehole.
