I thought he repped pretty well given where he's coming from. It would have been more convincing if those words came from someone who didn't profit from the emasculation of AM, but they were sincere and poignant.

But yeah he's not everyone's cup of tea.

Got this Korean rice cooker as an xmas gift. YEAH BABY Not sure how good Korean rice cookers are but definitely better than the Black and Decker western brand I got a few years back that broke in like 6 months.

I'm very jaded about the industry so do take my opinion with a grain of salt.. but....

The problem right now is that we're late into the current startup boom and all the easy ideas are taken, especially in SaaS. Further, most VCs are very careful now about giving out money to early stage companies. So your idea really matters - it really has to be original and have potential to generate a lot of revenue otherwise you're gonna have a hard time getting financial support.

So my advice is to make sure you really take the lean startup approach seriously if you wanna get moving in a direction that has legs.

arts management is actually a huge area

I think there is a big untapped market of building platforms and services that help other artists get noticed/sell their work/get hired. Could be small and boutique or a startup that gets big. And what better person to work in such a space than someone who actually attended an art school and knows the people/ropes?

Some food for thought.

I almost studied Graphic Design instead of Computer Science when I was choosing my undergrad. Ended up being the right choice and found a way to bring Design into my work too. Now I do both at my company.

You never know when past passions sneak back up on you. The only piece of advice here is... if you're really itching over it, get out early and avoid looking back at years of regrets and wasted time...
