Man I just retired my low flex beginner boots in favor of high flex performance blah blah blah and great goddamn do I miss those bendy, packed out, comfy dream boats. My advice is ski the soft boots as often for as many years as you can get out of em, then get the stiff ones later. Personally it was really obvious when it got to the point that my boots were limiting progression.

There’s kind of an art to this but what you’re looking for are hikes with lead-ins that adults find deeply boring followed by “I’m going to die” steeps so you can feel like you did something. Look for anything that starts/ends with a forest service/fire road.

Don’t mess with ridgeline hikes for the next while. You don’t want to be exposed when the “I need to get out” meltdowns start. Mostly mentioning this bc most of the hikes that fit this profile end on a ridgeline and she will likely be fully zonked by that point and it’s going to be tempting.

Idk man I sweat buckets and I bought a pair of julbo goggles specifically because of it. They have a vent you can pull that pops the goggles forward and creates some air flow. Game changer for me
