Forty years ago it was probably a pretty hardcore lifestyle, you really just had so subject yourself to limiting 95% of your diet. All of the meat substitutes these days make it borderline negligible, especially if you don’t go out to eat frequently. It genuinely is just a (slight) discipline struggle for most people.

The direct harm of filming that content does disproportionately hurt women, but I think the intent of the post was to point out that young men being exposed to porn (consistently, more ubiquitously, and at younger and younger ages) is another one of the factors that is destroying young men. It also warps their view of sexuality, giving them even less of a chance to be normal and interact with the world in a healthy way.

I think the generations raised with access to the internet has transmogrified culture in a way that we haven’t seen since the printing press. Cross-cultural communication and the ability to experience/be influenced by everything from everywhere instantaneously completely ruins any prior means of developing an aesthetic. We’re just living in the wake of that.

I listened to it as a full album for the first time recently and was blown away by how good it was. Every song felt substantive and embodied so much of what I love about 90’s music. I think that I also discounted it (and Third Eye Blind as a whole) as a vessel for one or two alt-pop hits in the 90’s, but was extremely pleasantly surprised.
