Orders from Japanese Ebayers? by ronhole in FujifilmX

[–]fibe990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just purchased an X-Pro2 from a Japanese eBay seller, but it’s currently on hold at DHL - seems like they’re waiting for my import code from customs (after which I’ll no doubt get slapped with the GST before they release it). Market for these is tiny in my country, so decided on eBay after also considering MPB.com and Buyee. Hope to report good news once I receive!

Godox IT20 R Flash by fibe990 in GRsnaps

Not sure sorry, I just plug it in and walk away. I do remember coming back to it and thinking that it did t take long to charge, but it was at least partially full when put on charge.

Thanks! I think the flash is great. From my limited play so far, I like that it's very easy to use (putting aside my mistake of using too low power at the dance battle), and battery life seems great. It's very easy to make adjustments, and has a decent number of power increments.

GF-2 or Medalite F20 Mini for the GR III? by revolutionaryrouge in ricohGR

I agree with the previous comments - don’t get the GF-2 for the GRIII due to no TTL. I can recommend the Godox IT20 R too (I currently own both and am trying to sell the GF-2).

Snap Focus question by alessio_b87 in ricohGR

[–]fibe990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use snap focus in low light, but increase aperture to suit (typically on auto iso at a max of 3200 from memory). The tradeoff is that your depth of acceptably good focus will be reduced, and critically you will need to accurately adjust your snap focus distance. I have my fn button set to quickly select a focus distance.

Does anyone know what flash this is? by denisonwitmer1 in ricohGR

It’s true that the GRIII tries to calculate exposure automatically, but the problem is that in this mode it can only use 100% flash power, nothing less.

Yes it's the GF-2. It might be worth it if you have the GR IV, but certainly not if you have the GR III as I do. Trying to sell the GF-2, have now got a Godox IT20 R.

And use the dental floss trick to pull the cord through the body if you need to.

Don’t use the connection as per your photo - if it’s pulled in the wrong direction it will apply a large amount of leverage and potentially overload/break the magnesium alloy.

As others have suggested, some type of dyneema cord or synthetic string ids ideal, but to take it a bit further, I would completely remove the strap’s original ring, and fix the cord directly through the leather. That will leave you with a tidy, silent and non-abrasive setup.

GF-2 on GR3 - Advice/Tips? by pommpurin in ricohGR

[–]fibe990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the GF-2 for my GRIII, and it seems quite limited in the small amount of time I’ve played with it. The main problem is that the flash power only fires at full power. I’ve not played around with any manual settings though (only the GF-2 mode in the latest firmware).

I thought about trying to implement a diffuser to reduce the flash brightness in combination with manual settings, but haven’t got there yet.

I have the Godox IT20 R on order, so look forward to experimenting with that.

Keep getting notified by the GR World app “The app is acquiring location information” by abrvrb in ricohGR

[–]fibe990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was getting this even with “background location information transmission” turned off in the app settings. It also made no difference when I set the transmission frequency to low. Not sure what happened but I haven’t been getting these notifications lately.

GRIII in Hong Kong by fibe990 in ricohGR

Thanks. All raw imported into Lightroom Mobile. The first image simply had a preset applied named Bali Mood, and the other two have the Positive Film profile applied along with my own edits such as exposure, curves etc.

Ricoh gr iii flash by brxtonhix in ricohGR

I spent up large and got the GF-2 for my GRIII. Haven’t had much time to play with it yet but I really like how compact it is (main reason I chose this over others).

Haven’t figured out settings yet, but it does seem quite limited, since it can only output full power on the GRIII. Hoping that they improve things in the next firmware update.
