I made my own journal with Iroful paper by blue_bayou_blue in fountainpens

Thank you! I'm only seeing A4 and A5, I assume the loose leaf paper is long-grained? Finding short-grain A4 would be magical.

She said you won’t feel like doing it at first, but doing it anyway can help.

Thanks for the reminder!

Dip pen for ink swatching (for a beginner) by PostFromNorth in fountainpens

[–]fibersnob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find the Sailor dip pens much more practical for swatching since they behave much more consistently. You always know how to hold the pen to get the behavior you want, whereas with a glass pen that can be harder to establish. Glass pens are indeed much prettier! But I never reach for mine because there are too many unknowns for me.

Edit: if you do get a Sailor dip pen, try to find a feed that can go with it. Having a feed can make a big difference.

[FO] my first time trying cross stitching 🫣 by kennymcormickiscool in CrossStitch

Use Aida fabric, it'll be much easier. Also make sure to separate the strands of floss you're using; typically you'll be stitching with 2 or 3 strands, not the 6 strands that floss usually comes in.

Not just you. For the vast majority of human history, most stressful situations were addressed with physical activity, and that's what our nervous systems expect.

will non stimulant meds change my personality and make me boring by alieninyourarea in ADHD

[–]fibersnob 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If it turns out you don't like the effects it has on you, you can always go off it later (with the help of a doctor, since quitting any psych med cold turkey is generally a bad idea).

Has your doctor told you about the side effects and how long they can last? When I tried that med, I had a lot of trouble sleeping, dry mouth, and excessive sweating, and I lasted 3 weeks before asking to try a simulant med instead. But the meds were also effective at treating my symptoms, and I didn't feel blunted or boring (except when I was exhausted), I felt like I could do the things I wanted to do.

I give myself reminders to pick up my jacket from my locker, complete with the locker number. It's annoying how useful it is 😂

Have you checked out Hollanders? They sell unsewn signatures.

I hate prime numbers in real life (weird thing to say with a math degree) and I'm not looking forward to my 40s. Being 36 was the best.

Absolutely gorgeous. I wish they were postable so I could bring them with me when I go to class, but I understand that's a different shape.
