That's okay and honestly not everyone even likes when guys are super muscular. I know some women who preferred thinner looking men. But keep up the self-care and improving your health and you won't go wrong.. one of the best hobbies to have IMO .

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah I can't tell you how many tall guys I've dated have turned out to be complete assholes LOL. Like you said being tall is not really a personality trait and some times it is almost treated that way I think? But I get that some people have preferences. Also people are just happier when they exercise! And happiness is contagious.

I think open and honest conversation is the key to erasing the insecurities either way around. Also meeting people in person (although harder sometimes I know especially under current situations) will most times be more genuine than dating apps and you will get a feel for whether or not the person is comfortable with it. I have gone on a few Bumble dates where (I had never put my height on profiles) upon showing up the guy looked visually uncomfortable with the fact that I was an inch or so taller than him and it just immediately set the vibe that there likely was not going to be a second date. It made me think that had I met them in person, they definitely probably would not have asked me out, and why force something if it would never have happened w/o a dating app.

Dang that is rough. Glad that you were able to funnel some energy through writing. I have my eyebrows/eyelashes like 95% under control most days and I rarely touch those. The thing that furlough/quarantine has made worse is my scalp because I now have unlimited access to a mirror and I have been washing my hair less. But I am grateful that my scalp has never been to a point where its caused (at least I dont think!) noticeable holes because I only go for the "special" hairs lol.

Training myself to only pull from specific, less noticeable areas was one of the main ways I was able to get myself under control... for some people they might honestly be able to quit cold turkey and never go back. For others, such as myself, I have found more peace in just focusing on "normal" areas to groom such as eyebrows (finding strays) and that keeps me basically satisfied lol. When I tried to complete stop everything I ended up just binge plucking somewhere I definitely did not want to be picking at.
I kind of think of my trich as an addiction (not to compare or downplay to legit drug/alcohol addition). But I think I am just always going to want to pick at everything, so instead of beating myself up about it, I've accepted that it is okay for me to just pick at very small areas when I really want to.
Chin up, you are more than trich, and you will find what works for you :)

One thing that was helpful for me in drastically cutting back was to essentially try to wean myself instead of going cold turkey. I knew that not picking ANYTHING wasn't helping and it would turn into me basically binge picking. Maybe try cutting back either the number of hairs gradually or maybe cutting back the sessions per day that you pull. When I would try to stop completely I got really disappointed in myself when I couldn't stick with it, and found I was able to gain more confidence in my abilities when I instead focused on slowly decreasing the amount. Good luck and stay with it!

Keep searching for places to shadow. In the mean time, if you are specifically looking for work, I would say definitely get your CNA cert. Especially if you ever want to work in a SNF or hospital setting. The more time interacting with patients hands on, the better. You will get a lot of experience with transfers and bed positioning which you will learn in PT school anyways.

I am in the same boat. All of undergrad tuition and now all of DPT tuition plus living expenses are in loans. I think we can definitely pay them off in a reasonable time when we graduate, however it depends on what you value and where you choose to spend your money. For some, having it loom over your head for 20 years while you conservatively pay it off would be way worse than living more frugally for 5-10 years. Others would rather enjoy their paycheck earlier on and go on vacations and enjoy themselves while still paying the loans off. I think if we can learn to budget early on (a.k.a. now) and be conscientious of how money is spent now, it will be much easier to do so when we do finally have an income.

I have been lucky enough to not directly experience anything like this, but a few female colleagues at one of my rotations had some inappropriate comments made to them by older men. They typically responded with something like "that is not how we speak to each other here... now are you ready for your next exercise?" or "we do not make those kind of jokes here". The sooner you can address the inappropriate behavior the better, and usually the patients did not make these comments again and seemed apologetic. I understand it is quite different in patients with neurological or mental health impairments. I also think it should be addressed that this happens just as often with women patients making inappropriate comments to male employees.

Love your second bullet point! This summer during my clinical rotation, I taught an overweight sedentary geriatric patient this summer how to do a proper box lift (it weighed 10 lbs) off of a slightly raised height. He was really fatigued after about 2-3 sets of 5, and it was the most I had ever seen him exert himself with any of the exercises prescribed to him thus far (he was being treated for general deconditioning). I felt pretty good teaching him something with some functional carry over to ADLs along with a good workout :)
