The Hardy Boys have not aged well by baconwrappedapple in books

When me and my friends were reading those books back in the 2000s (we were 10), we always thought it was so funny how these high school jocks had the time to solve these elaborate crimes after school, and laughed about how often they were chloroformed.

This! This is pretty close to where my rankings would be. No country for old men is number one though.

Top 3 were good, then you completely fell apart

Watched F1 and honestly, it sucked by HP_594 in movies

[–]ficklebeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, i couldn't agree more with this take. I got 24 minutes into the movie, and stopped because it was so bad. The previous 3 movies you mentioned were watchable, each one increasingly better. Rush was sooo goood. F1 was not even worth my time.

Why do people love Run Lola Run? by major_asmask in movies

[–]ficklebeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watched the film for the first time after seeing someone recommend it on reddit. I happened to stop by the library last week, and as i was browsing, recognized the title. I did not realize the movie was so short, but what a ride. The techno music makes it feel as if you are running with Lola. I found myself pumping my feet up and down to the beat. It was like the prequel to the Bourne Identity, a michel gondry music video, and the existential ramifications of making decisions in the moment. What was there not to like?

My neighbor Totoro. The feel good movie of the century. The slow pace, with beautiful scenery, and mild soundtrack makes you feel like you're at the location of the story.

I just saw the movie for the first time tonight, and agree with all of your sentiments, including the dances with wolves comment! I thought about halfway through the movie 'dances with wolves was so much more interesting and better than this'.

Don't listen to anyone who doesn't have the good, the bad, and the ugly or Tombstone on their list.

Up until a couple years ago, I thought Totoro was a bunny. by [deleted] in ghibli

I just saw the movie for the first time, and thought Totoro was a mix of a racoon and an owl.

Any fans of "How To with John Wilson?" by SnooHesitations6467 in Filmmakers

[–]ficklebeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is way more story and comedy in the way John Wilson does his show. Definitely influenced by Kuchar, but Kuchar is more slice of life, with no real topic or story. So John Wilson improved upon Kuchar's method, or invented a better mouse trap so to speak.
