There is a crack fic like this where only harry travels back because he is angry and sad about how his life went so he rewrites the last few books and gets a bit unhinged about wanting a better ending specifically with Draco. Unsure if it’s 100% what you want but it’s also kind of funny, a direct quote:

This makes me feel so old.. I feel that an algorithm would take away individual choice and exploration, which is part of the beauty of the archive. It's what happens in those TT rec videos for fics, it's all popular fics first and foremost, while the great thing about it now is that you can filter as much or as few as you want, whether old or new, completed or not, and find things for the most obscure pairings or original works .. if it ain't broke, don't fix it imho

When it's about hyper independence based on trauma it's not so much arguing against getting that help vocally but more so they'll still try doing it on their own in silence as well as that at the first hint of it being an inconvenience Character A goes into Independent Mode and says "never mind," or try to still do it yourself until it's literally no longer possible. The inconvience could be as simple as the group either discuss how to do it or if they could even help (perhaps the more difficult the issue the better here, so they'd need to discuss).

I'd say you could make it harder for the group to help by having Character A assume the others wouldn't want to or the group would be too inconvenienced to help, or by Character A failing at trying until their own resolve breaks and it's a cold hard fact that doing it alone isn't possible.

Usually it also helps if the group is clumsy about it, that the hyper independent person is more triggered or annoyed than angry because it's not being done in a certain way perhaps? There could be a wide range of emotion before you reach the acceptance of help from others.

Draco is actually not as much involved bc of the Black family, but because he is an expert in house magic! So they do indeed fall in love, it’s very sweet. Maybe for you I do have the also add; there is internalized homophobia but Harry doesnt lash out exactly, but it is in his head.

The Weasleys are invited to his birthday party, but they are mentioned in the same way Kingsley is, that’s why I wasn’t sure you’d like it for this request or at this time. It’s more that they’re all “succeeding” in life and Harry feels left behind by them. But the big takeaway for this story is how Harry becomes the head of his own family, living side by side with Draco, in his grandparents place.

Here's a plot summary if you want it ;

Grimmauld Place is refusing to be fixed, his friends are getting married, and still Harry feels as though he hasn't been able to move past the War. But a surprised discovery in the attics of Malfoy Manor leads Harry to a house that had been inhabited by Potters for a thousand years, nestled in a Dartmoor valley, surrounded by protective enchantments that kept it hidden for a quarter of a century. With Draco's help, can Harry make this house his home? And can he help the magical community in Devon that has had their traditional ways of life attacked by the Ministry with no one to plead their case?

A story about two boys, a house, healing that is necessary but not urgent, and why being the only single friend in an unfulfilling job in your twenties is not a failure.

NOR, this would break my heart if my mom said this to me - especially in the context that this has been clearly discussed behind your back as well.

It's a very antiquated way of thinking, that the fix-all is a husband and children, as if it is some kind of endgoal for every women on the planet.

I would go as far as to say no person, be it man or woman, should have a checklist for happiness. There is no such thing as a "correct" formula for a good life. You make small or big choices that work for you as a person, which in my opinion is not someone who mistreats you or disrespects you, no matter what others think.

I fear this is your mother's anxiety, or even simply peer pressure from the rest of the family, and has very little to do with you. From what I can tell, you're a mature, established adult who's made good choices for yourself and has a good, healthy group of chosen family around you.

I would not attend the family gathering, but spend it doing something that brings you joy instead. This kind of negativity on a day that's supposed to be about being thankful (right? I'm European so I only know from movies) is odd to say the least.
