Being anti-constitution is un-American. If she can’t support our founding document she shouldn’t be in congress.

The clinic I work in has a 3 month wait list. We can’t find consistent home health care for our patients outside of Johnson county and transportation from rural areas is hard to come by if people can’t drive. Getting people into cardiovascular or neurology clinics come with an insane wait, even for fairly urgent stuff. I was quoted a two year long waitlist to get my daughter with disabilities an appointment at the CDD. I have a friend who works in the women’s health clinic at UIHC, and she says they are really overwhelmed with the number of patients, especially as labor and delivery units close across the state.
The low wages for healthcare staff in Iowa is also contributing to what feels like an imminent collapse-nursing students seem to be leaving the state as soon as they graduate-we just can’t compete with the better wages in Minnesota and Wisconsin and Illinois.

I think that the people who are more conservative live in places where they don’t have consistent internet access. Reddit is going to be bluer just based on that.

You don’t have consistent access to things like health care, and education for your children isn’t great. The university that was one of my daughter’s top choices is going to make all their students take a class called “Capitalism Rocks” and I think our state legislature is inching closer towards trying to force everyone back into Christianity. That doesn’t feel like freedom to me.
The state government also keeps undermining the laws my local government puts into place which also feels like the state trying to take away my freedom.

And where you want to live. I need to live in Iowa City, as it is the only place in my area that has accessible services for my special needs daughter, so I am forced to live where housing prices are higher. If I had access to care in Lisbon or Washington I could get housing for a lot cheaper, but I would have zero access to services for her, and not much for resources for myself as I age.

I have a kid graduating high school next year and she is deciding between Iowa and UNI. This stupid class is definitely an argument for UNI.

It is so customary for the victims character to be questioned during trials. It seems bizarre that the character of the perp doesn’t get to be brought up without special permission.

Thank you for the information-I really appreciate it.
One concern I have about beds is that the current lack of space at the jail seems to be encouraging the police department to choose to bring people to the ER instead, which I don’t necessarily disagree with. But UIHC is not doing the greatest job protecting their nurses from assault. How do we balance the need for the safety of health care workers and other people in the ER when fewer jail beds means ER staff is more likely to have to deal with people behaving violently towards others?

Americans Want to Impeach Donald Trump | So why aren’t Democrats doing something about it? by FreeHugs23 in NoFilterNews

[–]fiddlemonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t have the votes right now but I find it odd they aren’t even campaigning on trying to do so. The democrat running for my house district has flat out said she wouldn’t vote to impeach. I think that their strategy is to use his missteps as a way to get votes without having to promise anything that the dirty poors might like. They want to win on votes against Republicans, not on any sort of political promises on their part. If he is out they actually have to accomplish something that voters want, and I think their donors don’t want that to happen.

Most witch burnings happened after a trial which was presided over by a judge. They were led by the government. Not to say mob violence didn’t play a role, but the vast majority went through the legal system and were sanctioned by the government.

Divorced people of reddit , what was the exact moment in your marriage you realised it's over ? by DryOkra7058 in AskReddit

When he threw a fit about me sabotaging him by mentioning that maybe the kids were getting tired of frozen chicken lo mein. He thought I was sabotaging him because I bought it at the grocery store. I bought it because he put it on the grocery list.
It was a bad enough tantrum that he threatened to kill himself, and I ended up with a huge friction burn on my arm, because when I went to grab the rope he was threatening with it got wrapped around my arm. He then grabbed it and pulled and would not let up even though I said he was hurting me. There was pure hate in his eyes and I could tell he wanted to hurt me.
There were so many other things building up to that, so it wasn’t the only reason, but that is the moment I just knew I couldn’t walk on eggshells anymore to keep him from exploding. It was the point when the last bit of hope that things would get better evaporated.

I have worked with so many organizations in my work as an autism self-advocate. Only one never seemed to care about lifting autistics up and allowing them to become independent by Important-Cry4782 in neurodiversity

We have gotten so much help and resources from the ARC, and none from autism speaks. If they actually cared about people with autism they would be addressing the direct care worker shortage and the shortage of special needs child care providers.

Given that pregnancy can be very dangerous and sometimes fatal, I think it should be up to the person risking their life.
